In this video I turned a Koa goblet out of six individual pieces. I then attach them all using wire to create this piece.

Hi my name is Carl Jacobson,
I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together. We also do a lot of epoxy projects as well as woodturning.

Hey Carl. Good to see you. I need to get caught up on your videos. I have a question on making urns. Is there a standard size?
@alward417
@alward417 8 ай бұрын
Mark, by no means am I trying to answer for Carl. I have used the following guideline though and it served me well. 1 pound = 1 cubic inch. 14.1 cubic inches = 1 cup. Sam Angelo made a clear container so he could get a visualization of the size needed. I had to make a couple of different ones to get the size I needed. I have seen all different sizes turned so I can't answer about standard size. My stepson's urn will hold 30 cups, he only needed ten.

Hi Mark, There's not really a standard size. Al's right about all the measurements Sam did a great video on it. I think what is popular right now are keepsake urns and the two and a half inch rings are perfect for that.

Hi Carl, been following you for a while and love watching you turn. Did you come up with this design or did someone else? The reason I’m asking is, you did another video of a Christmas ornament that a guy in our wood turners club came up with, and didn’t give him credit. I don’t think you did this intentionally. You seem like a pretty good guy. And you might want to mention it if you got the idea from someone else. But, keep on turning! You do marvelous work!
@CarlJacobson

Thank you very much Larry! I did mention that Robin found a picture of a box similar to this at the end of the video and it inspired us :) Most of the time when we find something we like on-line it doesn't say who originally made it, but we always encourage searching for different projects (weather we thought of them or not) for everyone to make. Whenever we make something that wasn't our idea I mention it in the video, and if we know who made it we mention them too. P.S. Please tell your friend at your club, Thank you for the idea with the Christmas ornament.

@@CarlJacobson I hope I didn’t upset you. I pray I didn’t come off as being disrespectful. I do really enjoy watching you and got a used mid sized lathe and started turning about 6 months ago. And I love it, and still have so much to learn!! Thanks friend for you reply!
