I got to hangout with another local woodturner Todd Halleman this weekend. Todd is working with Ben Farrell from "Bowls for good". Bowls for good is a organization that works with at risk kids through woodturning.

Hampshire Sheen. That's where you got the name Hampshire from. Same manufacturer. It is a great wax finish to use after your Yorkshire Grit.

Yes, Hampshire is a county in England! Perhaps you were thinking of Hampshire Sheen (as opposed to Yorkshire Grit)

Yes Hampshire is a place, it's where Martin lives and I think you may have been getting muddled up with his Hampshire Sheen.

Yorkshire ... Hampshire, hmmm. Actually this is an area in England known as Hampshire. Martin Sabin-Smith is a KZbin turner who lives there and makes finishing products known as Hampshire Sheen. I use Gwyn's Yorkshire Grit as a final sanding step followed by a coat or two of Martin's Hampshire Sheen. Really nice stuff.

If you're doing a carbide vs gouges video, feel free to send folks to my "Can I do it with carbide" series. 3 videos where I do all the basic turning techniques with various carbide tools. It's a series that I know AZCarbide links to from their site, too. I put those up a couple of years ago. Just an idea.

regarding "Back to Basics": Something I have found in my teaching is that a serious problem with new turners who seem to have the "Carbide only - the scraper only group"" mentality is that They get into trouble when it comes to using Mike Hunter"s cutters regardless of what tooling they are using to hols Mike's cutter. Also I have found that most think "The bigger thr better" Not so as you know. Even though Mike's cutters made of carbide Carbide They are not used as Craig's tools are. Using scrapers is an old skill set and Craig has made it modern But Mike Hunter's carbide cutters are not scrapers. I think that you would have a opertunity to demonstrate to point out the difference. Not all carbide tools are used as scrapers. Dr Bob
