Hi I'm Carl Jacobson from the Woodshoptv, I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together.

I bought the first version of the MiterSet years ago. It works so much better than depending on the marks on the stock miter gauge! Dead accurate and dependable angles!

Carl, thanks for showing the miterset. I hadn't seen it before and it sure looks easy. I guess you could also use the standard one, 0 - 50 degrees with that half degree adjustment bar to set up for 24, 30, 36, 40, 45, 60, 72, 90 and 120 segments using the appropriate degrees of 7.5, 6, 5, 4.5, 4, 3, 2.5, 2 and 1.5 degrees respectively. All told it might be a lot more versatile than buying a wedgie for every size.

Thanks Richard! I didn't even think about using the standard one for segmenting, but you're right thanks.

I replaced my sled with the miter set. I found the miter set to be much quicker, and just as accurate .

does anyone know if the miter set works on jobsite table saws, mine is Skil worm drive SPT99?

These jigs look like they work great, but I've already built my wedgie sled so I'll stick with it. The cost is also one deciding factor, I built my wedgie sled for about $15 and use standard drafting triangles to set the fences which I already had on hand. It does limit the rings I can generate, but I only need the three choices (6, 8, & 12 segments) right now. Perhaps I'll invest in the wedgie set later. I have two unrelated questions. When you sand with Howard's orange oil and bee's wax do you remove the excess and slurry before changing grits? I've been wiping it clean between each grit, but I wonder if that is even necessary. I've also found that I can apply lacquer based sanding sealer and then a lacquer finish after sanding with Howard's. Have you tried any finish on top of it?

Yes the Wedgie sled works great too. Yes I clean out after each grit, just so I'm not sanding the slurry. I haven't tried any other finish over the was, but thanks I'll give it a try.

was going to get one Carl but when I went to the website they said it cannot be used with dewalt contractors saws but it also says works with any 3/4 miter slot....do you have any info that could help me out...
@CarlJacobsonthewoodshop
@CarlJacobsonthewoodshop 7 жыл бұрын
I think Dewalt changed their miter slot on that saw, but yes it will work with any other 3/4 slot.

how do u keep the cut pieces away from the blade? In this video they seem to be fine. However, if you had more segments to cut then they could pile up and get damaged by the blade.
