OH I want that lamp ! The most beautiful door I've ever seen was made from planks of knotted wood with the knots pushed out , filled with resin . When the sun was setting , the sunlight would shine through those knot holes and light up the room with the most beautiful light . This video made me think of that door , thank you 😊 .

It's a pain in the arse mate. It's not just the ribbons that you can see on the video. There's a layer of microscopic dust on everything. That's why a respirator is so important.

Jack, I see that you changed the jaws on the chuck you were using. What is the chuck you are using? I like the range of the chuck and how easy it is to change the jaws. I don’t mean to be a pain in the butt with all the questions, but you are a great teacher and do some of the most beautiful work. Wish you would post the tools, sealants, equipment you use. Thank You and keep up the postings. Everytime I watch a video I learn more and more.
@JackMackWoodturning12 күн бұрын
Hi Rory, I have tutorial videos coming this year. I hope I will answer all our questions with that series of videos and courses. All chucks should act this way if you set them up and use them correctly.. I use the Axminster sk114 chuck and all their selection of jaws. But what people don’t seem to understand about chucks and jaws is that if you purchase a set of runners for each set of jaws instead of undoing and the screws to change jaws you simply expand the jaws till the runners disconnect and then drop a new set in..

Jack, really outstanding once again! Don’t know how you keep the resin from chipping more using a gouge? Alumilte clear slow urethane sure chips more for me without using carbide or sharp scrapers! Stay safe.

Lovely piece. I'm confused why the resin went in the pot one colour and came out another.
@JackMackWoodturning17 күн бұрын
How do you mean? It’s the same colour.
@ComingWithTheClouds17 күн бұрын
The colour you mixed was a light orange resin, and is the same when you put in in the pot at 2:08. When it comes out at 2:29, it's a dark brown.

Nice lamp, the foot is just a tad "too heavy", meaning a bit too wide, to be perfect though. Maybe try a small lamp fitting next time (i.e. E14) ? Overall, a nice design, the choice of orange as filler gives the whole a warm feeling :)
