Great Bowl Ed. Love Olive wood even though it is classified as a pest in some parts of Australia. Thanks for the sticker. I gave you a big Outtake unplanned mention in my recent uploaded video. 😁👍😁 Rob

Thank you Rob! I had no idea that it was considered a pest there, but I get it. It's hard to find and can be expensive. I was fortunate to get this log from my neighbor. - Ed

Nice job Ed. Been awhile since I commented. Just lying low and haven't made anything on the lathe in a long time. In fact, I took all the stuff I've turned over the past couple years and gave it to my neighbor to give away (NOT SELL). It went in 2 days and everyone loved the work. Funny, when its free everyone wants it, but nobody want to buy it. So I have zero inventory and feel like a beginner wood turner again. There were lots of bowls and vases and twig pots. Keep up the great work Ed...... Paul

Firstly, the thing i appreciate the most of watching your videos is, the fact that you give your measurements in both imperial and metric as here in South Africa we grew up and was mostly taught in metric. Then, your bowl look stunning and olive wood is a nice wood. Resin compliments it perfectly. Great job 😁👍🏼👏🇿🇦

Thank you very much! I grew up with imperial, but I find myself using metric more and more. Math and I don't mix so it's easier to deal with whole numbers instead of fractions. - Ed

A very nice bowl Ed. The color of the resin really sets it off. I think I would have a problem with the cost of the resin though. As a guess I think you used about $20 to $30 worth of resin. Still, thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay healthy.

Beautiful wood and bowl. BTW, did you run into warping/stability issues hollowing from the center to the edge?
@WolfRidgeWoodworking3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I don't recall any issues. I did get some chatter from the inside edge of the bowl, but I always do. The tool shaft diameter is too small and I'm going to be building my own carbide cutters using 1/2" bar stock. That should do the trick! - Ed

Hi Ed....beautiful bowl...I am looking to experiment with a piece of pecan that has several worm holes. My question is what is the purpose of the pressure pot? Is that for the bubbles, faster setting of the resin , or something else? I didn't see any info on your setup of that. Can you share? Thanks
@WolfRidgeWoodworking2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Gerald! Because of the pores in the wood, when you add the resin, you are going to get air bubbles escaping. The idea of the pressure pot is to make them microscopic. They are still there, but too small to see. The other option, if you don't have a pressure pot, is to use a very slow setting resin. Something that takes days to cure versus minutes. The length gives the air bubbles time to escape. I use that resin for projects that won't fit in the pressure pot. Something like Alumilite's Amazing Clear Cast or Amazing Deep Pour. Take a look at my headboard project where you see me use both of those products. Please let me know if you have any other questions. - Ed
