I have never seen anyone make a salt and pepper mill and it is cool to see how they all come together. Great job on carving. You are truly blessed with talent!

So good to see a left handed turner,the only down side you don't measure in metric.
@SpragueWoodturning
@SpragueWoodturning 4 жыл бұрын
Canada has the metric system, however I find all construction and most general woodworking measurements are done in imperial and volumes and weight are done in metric. We’re complicated, eh.

Thanks for the video. I go to thrift stores and look for salt and pepper mills. Sometimes I find brand new ones that have good mechanisms and have never been used for only a dollar or two. Much cheaper than from any store. Disassemble and you have a mechanism to use in your own design.
@SpragueWoodturning
@SpragueWoodturning 4 жыл бұрын
That’s a good idea for personal use, but I would never do that for a set I would sell. Jim.

Hey jim. I know this is a old video but I was wondering where do you get your grinder mechanisms from? Yeah, I can get anyone from Amazon but I prefer the one's you use.

Hi Eileen, I’ve tried my laptop and iPad an all seems fine. Try restarting your computer to see if that helps, other than that I don’t know what the problem would be, Jim.

When you put the spindle in your jaws it looks like you’re leaning the jaw chuck “wrench (?)’” against the piece to see that it is spinning straight. Is that what you’re doing? Can you explain how that helps or what you do to correct it if it isn’t turning true? Example of what I’m talking about at about 14:45
@SpragueWoodturning
@SpragueWoodturning 3 жыл бұрын
That’s correct. The blank is tight but not tight enough that I can’t move it with some pressure so it runs true. I then tighten it down so it stays that way.
