Hi I'm Carl Jacobson from the Woodshoptv, I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. Thank you Carl and I'm not surprised your honey pot has gained interest. I've only done some elementary hollowing and I found taping a tiny LED torch to the tool helped a lot. If you do any more work sitting astride your lathe I suggest Robin chooses some music from perhaps John Wayne's Stagecoach:-).

That new piece is going to be an amazing art piece for sure!! As you have said before, sometimes mistakes create a better look than was originally planned! I'll take it if you'r not gonna keep or sell it. But you must sign it somewhere so that everyone looking at it could see your name and ask "Who is this Carl Jacobson, this Master, this Genius and artist that made such a beautiful and extraordinary piece of amazing art"?

peter brown showed how to make a donut chuck and that might work to clean the bottom up

That would work on most things, but this is very fragile.

The next time you're sitting on the lathe when a piece of wood flies off you should ask your better half to start a stop watch to see if you can stay on there for 8 seconds. Yee Haw!!!
