Because I'm now in a smaller shop, I thought it would be cool to design a table that served double duty, providing ample room for table saw support and plenty of real estate for assembling my projects. The icing in the cake is the thoughtfully-design base with plenty of storage and an integrated shelf for your favorite table saw sled.

I love these plans. However I have a strange question: where in the heck do you find black melamine? Big box store carries white, so they referred me to local hardwood dealer. Nope. They recommended a place specializing in plywood. Who referred me back to big box store or a hardwood dealer! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.

18th century piano factories would be filled with fine art so it would inspire the builders to make beautiful pianos. You are your surroundings, if your shop is beautiful, you are more likely to make beautiful projects.

I am getting ready to replace my outfeed/assembly/workbench sheet of Baltic birch sitting on an old steel table with a proper all-in-one solution so I have been looking at KZbin for ideas. I watched this video when it was posted, it's hard to believe this is already two years old. This is a very good project, thank you for doing it.

Great looking functional piece. You just keep on adding the walnut dressing on shop equipment teaching us new workers techniques needed to get good at this trade. Mark, you do great work. I made a similar table last fall. One thing I added was a 1" diameter whole in the plywood top (the sheet underneath the melamine). This way when I decide to replace the top sheet, I can poke a large dowel up through the whole and more easily pry up the melamine sheet.

I've always made my outfeed/assembly lower to avoid having to line up the groves. My mind was blown with the concept of just making them a bit larger to than the actual grove. Great tip

Thanks Marc! I built that torsion box assembly table 10 or twelve years ago based on your video. It is still going strong! I love the outfeed assembly table idea, because I do a lot of sanding and assembly on my outfeed table table. I’m looking forward to building this one too. That's really awesome to hear. I think if I had more room I'd happy still use a torsion box. But it's becoming harder to justify the space it consumes. This beast really fits the bill nicely.

I've been building this and for the most part by the plans. Biggest exception is the fact my saw sits almost 2 full inches taller. So instead of modifying the height of the cabinet I decided to add to the height of the top and build a small torsion box. Its actually working out to plan so I'm waiting on the "oh sh*t" moment. There are a few other things on this I think I would change but all in all I think its an outstanding plan and you have done an outstanding job of helping to push me to do things that were not in my normal safe box. Ordered a Harvey TS and ran across your video while searching for ideas for an out feed/assembly table. As usual, very well done. Simple and elegant. Since my shop floor (3-carr garage) slants to the front, I need to be able to keep the table level. I also like the idea of being able to replace the top if needed, but at my age the table will out live me.

I've got a new Harvey table saw too -- built this table to work with my new saw. I used cabinet grade maple ply for the sides and drawer fronts, and red oak for the trim around the top and drawer fronts AND for an extension to the top that accepts dovetail clamps. (Don't have room for a separate quality work bench with vices in my half of a two-car garage. Cool fact: because the Harvey table saw is 31-1/2 (vice 27) inches deep, I do NOT have to cut any miter slots in the table --- the miter gage is 'thru the cut' as the miter bar reaches the outfeed table!!! So, as long as I don't build a huge crosscut sled with even longer miter bars, the table can remain slot-free. I've built quite a few shop cabinets on wheels, flip-top tool holders etc, mostly with 3/4 plywood and pocket-hole screws. They are fast, strong, and build quickly. Mark's plan is a bit more involved, but the result is worth the effort. I call it "Garage Furniture". Nice looking cabinet. On the soft close hinge since the doors where small you can turn one off so they will close quicker. And a pro tip on laminate, use a file for cleaning up the edge after routing. I don't miss the miles of laminate done over the years.

For those soft-close hinges, on light doors, you can disengage the soft close mechanism on one of the two hinges to make them close a little faster.

Just started this build and I'm mad at the edge banding method. Took this build on to try new methods, but i sure do hate hardwood edge banding. I think i started getting a hang of how much support my router needed by the time i was on my last panel.
