I do this entirely by hand using hand planes because I am a poor college student 😭

I can see here (by the video and comments) that I clearly don't take sanding seriously enough. And, probably never will ;-).

How painful will it be to make this project without all the tools Caleb will be using in the videos? I have some of the tools but not all, and researching the prices to buy them would quickly add up. Thanks!

It would be extremely painful. 4 u. -Bane

Very difficult to say. There are always alternative tools and methods you can use, but it'll be up to you to research those and make them happen. So how fun that process is totally comes down to your personality and how you like to spend your time.

Good tools let you do things faster and more efficiently. Making something beautiful, or cutting off your own arm. That just comes down to you, the craftsman. There's (almost) nothing you can do with high-end tools that you can't do with a chisel and your teeth.

Been thinking about getting a course for over a year now. The free videos are great. This project is making me finally pull the trigger. I think I'm gonna end up kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Thanks Marc, you've been a big mentor in my woodworking journey!

I would never trust the roundness of a round object, let alone if it were centered or not. This video is excellent and solves problems that most people could never dream of solving

Can you please tell me when you made your plane till, what angle did you cut on the top and bottom of the Main Panel? Your plan states “Mark angle per Video” but in your video you never stated what the angle was. Please help!

Note: the Closed Caption mispelled the referenced authors name. It's James Krenov. Just in case anyone else didn't know who he was.

Great to see the dowelmax being used. It's so versatile and useful. Quick and accurate. Nothing against the domino, but it's not the only way. Great build for your daughter :)

I think if I had a Mirka, I would find a way to glue the paddle down and just use the master switch and the min/max dials.

Great heirloom build. Only suggestions, and these are minor, would be to consider routing a wire chase for the mirror wires and turn-stop drawer stops on the drawers. Appreciate the video!

I just bought a cutting board of raw wood; I bought some mineral oil and applied it to the wood and THEN i found you on KZbin and your information on Tung oil. Very good information and I will be looking for Tung oil to have on hand to re-season it. Thank you very much!
