Literally the sims 2 and sims 3 had MORE emotion than the sims 4... go figure. It's because personalities actually mattered in the sims 2 and 3 that affected their emotion. I think there should be a difference between flirting, kissing, and woohoo. Like, when the spouse does the woohoo with another person their relationship should drop far into the red (unless there's maybe a designated trait that makes Sims have open relationships idk), but if they just flirt with someone it should only drop down a bit. Kissing should be a middle ground of some sort, it's pretty bad but not as bad as literal woohoo.

it would be so cool to have open relationships in the sims or something like polyamory. i also have always thought there should be more traits for romance in the sims, like in the sims 3 being a flirty sim and being a hopeless romantic were two different things. and i think it made sense because that way you could have a sim who is flirty in the sense that they like having casual woo-hoo/they flirt a lot but that's different from a sim who really wants to date but has more of a... romantic longing for love kinda thing. you know what i mean?

How to make emotions better: -Make important moodlets more powerful -Make important moodlets last longer -Emotions need to work with personalities, a sim that isn't very loyal should probably feel happier after cheating and not as much tense -Memories need to be apparent, that way when sims that have bad histories interact that seeps in, along with trait conflicts -Emotions need to be less manipulatable (imo decorations should not be able to influence moods) -Emotions need to provide more challenge to the game Emotions currently act as a sort of salad dressing and skill enhancer in the Sims 4. You have to play pretend in order to get a sense of your sim feeling real, and even then for me it's hard to make that connection.

"You have to play pretend in order to get a sense of your sim feeling real, and even then for me it's hard to make that connection." Of course it is when their social interactions are complete mess. I mean when I want my sim couple to woohoo I always want them to perform some romantic actions before that, but they always annoy me because they're like "oh, you look so great honey, but I want to play PC right now suddenly, sorry!". Or when you want them to actually do something, like write a book and *then* other family members suddenly be like "hmm, I think I need to talk to my wife more often". And my personal favorite story: so I sent my sim and his crush on a date. And every like 10-20 in game minutes a random stranger would interfere in their conversation. I was so freaking furious. Imagine IRL that you finally invite your crush on a date in a restaurant and every 10 minutes some random dudes would come to your table and start talking:"hey guys, nice weather! you know something that's annoying about sims 4 moodlets is that positive moodlets (ie. confident, romance, focused, playful) can be buffed by happy moodlets (like with Eliza at 11:04, gaining that one confident moodlet put her as "very confident" because it's buffed by the four other happy ones) but we don't often have that with negative ones. like embarrassment isn't buffed by being tense. it just adds to the ease to be in a positive mood most of the time. (that and having negative moods can lead to death which i thinks makes more players want to avoid them, even if those emotional deaths are less volatile than they were in the beginning of the game)

It took so much effort to bring her back to a "happy" life. It really felt like she had clinical depression, she would randomly stop what she's doing and think about her parents and cry. At some point I even thought I wouldn't be able to "save" her. It was so hard to have her be sucessfull in school and in her personnal life because she was so depressed! I think the reason why emotions are so easy to counteract in The Sims 4 is because if a Sim stays in the most extreme state of some emotions for too long (I believe it's 4 hours), then they'll die, and the game is supposed to be easy on new players. I would actually like it to be harder to counteract them since it's already rare for Sims to get to that point.

But I was unaware about this part of the game for 5 years because I never was interested on cheating even in the sims and never had this aspiration completed %) I wish this trait was in the CAS. Either this was a glitch, my memory is bad, or my sims are psychic, but I think I remember one time I had one of my Sims 3 married Sims cheat on his wife while she was on the other side of town. She somehow got enraged and had the cheated on moodlet, even though she was nowhere near her house or husband.

If someone is flirting with your husband in the sims 4, you will accuse your husband of cheating, even if he refused the flirt in sims 4...

When one of my sims died of drowning, only her husband had any real reaction to it.

I do like the moodlets "witnessed betrayal". The little eyes and sword is remarkably adorable to me...though there is nothing innocent and adorable about betrayal.

One difference between Woohooing and different cheating in the sims 3. Is that if you woohoo on the same lot your spouse is in, even if you’re not in the same room, you will definitely get caught. But if you kiss or flirt or anything, but not woohoo. But remain on the same lot but not in the same room, the spouse won’t notice. But if the spouses are on different lots, no one will notice no matter what

Cindy what a great idea for a video!!! loving all those comparisons, keep it up queen

I think we should have first tier and second tier emotions. For example. Being cheated on should be a first tier emotion which means that a second tier emotion (for example a decor buff) doesn't affect it. Even if it has more "positive points".

Very interesting experiments Cindy. I love Zero's cheating mod, I must try it with the others you recommended. One thing to note: I found with Zero's mod installed, my sims became so upset by cheating that they kept dying from emotional deaths :/ Meaningful Stories would seem to balance this better?? You might like to try an alternative to Zero's mod. Lumpinou has a contextual social interactions mod with a separate cheating module. It provides social interactions such as confess to cheating, etc. It's recommended that you don't have both Zero's and Lumpinou's mods installed at the same time however. I'm a new fan, love your videos!

In my experience the "meaningful stories" mod will not only lengthen the time of the negative moodlet but also ensure that it can't be easily overpowered by positive moodlets (e.g. from decorations or an excellent meal). I have been playing with "meaningful stories" for a while and highly recommend it. It has excellent in-game pop-ups that explain what the mod is doing while things are happening and is also fully adjustable. It takes real effort to get your sim out of a funk (should you wish to improve his or her mood), which makes gameplay more challenging, but also way more... meaningful.

I mean yeah, jealousy does addwct the relation and moods but like, watching the TV to change moods and then interacting with the cheated/cheater/cheated with and the relation suddenly fixes itself They were going into aomething but also c'mon that's way too easy

Very entertaining- I don't think I'd mind Sims 4 if they expanded the dramatic parts of it over some of the more cartoony content (like the way the murphy bed kills, it's such a slapstick way to die and the tragedy is lost). The fact that there is a friendship meter and a separate romance meter has so much potential for gameplay with challenges etc. However TS3 needs a mod to allow the spouse to stop the woohoo by inflicting bodily harm or something- I'd settle for a book to the head from the bookshelf. The the Sims 4 husband was sitting on the couch when he was very angry was beautiful- too bad it didn't pop an additional moodlet on the people around them like 'uncomfortable atmosphere' or something.

Thank you! My curiosity has moved on to new aspects of this. Because you and some other comments here are mentioning how easy it is to get rid of anger by mirror and art? But hey! You also talk about realistic play... I would play like the sim would talk it out with friend and partner. So I liked how you checked if cheating did something to the interaction panel. Maybe different personalities get different whims for how to deal with betrayal? Like a money sim will go on a spending spree, or a family sim wants to talk to others? You touch the subject, but I haven't played the s4, so there's a missing aspect for me. Like... My sims would never be allowed to hide from each other after something like that.

Fair? No. You brought the pancakes out of their betrayal but you didn’t on the sims 3. It’s SO much harder to do on sims 3, even after they accept you they still don’t. It takes a looooooong time to have them forgive you on sims 3.

I’ll be honest and have a critique for you, stick to other videos and non sims 4. It may get you views but no one likes it. Sims 4 is absolute garbage.

In a way I like that you have to walk into the same room to find out your spouse is cheating in sims 4 since I hate that in sims 3 (I think 2 too) if your sim woohoos on the same lot the spouse just gets the feeling like "THERE CHEATING" and runs to them and accuses them.

Going to add to this in regards to the romances and Sims 4: I had the girlfriend of a Sim I had woohoo with another household. The sim ended up Very Angry, their romance dropped as a result of being jealous. With mod I use, the sim ended up being so jealous they caused their girlfriend to end up becoming very embarrassed. Ultimately, the Sims 4's relationship system is very barebones. All because the game was originally planned to be an online game until SimCity's failures made EA knee-jerk as they always do. Next time EA, MAKE A SIMULATION GAME OFFLINE! (It's EA, they want live services so they can rake in all the money)

Because I play Sims 3 mostly, I believe jealousy can be the same across the board for all sims unless they have a 'cold heart' reward where they don't get jealous if a lover cheats and/or dependent on the sims personality traits - so if they are a hot head like my sim she will throw hands no matter what and be all dramatic because of her dramatic trait and therefore call it quits before getting the reconcile option.
