I’ve never seen a mop wooly worm before. Those are thick mops, too. Looks like it would work great!

Love this! Part of the fun of this hobby is finding new materials or finding new ways to use existing materials. Going to tie up a row of these. Thanks!

Those mops are the same principle as a dubbing loop. You're undoing what the factory is making, in essence thousands of little dubbing loops lol Good tips and techniques in this video! Thanks for posting!!

Hi Mike, I’m very new to the art of flying. I really enjoy watching your videos of using ordinary materials to make fly tying components. Especially using the Bonnie cord. This is by far more artistic than going to the fly shop to purchase ready made materials. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.

Thanks for sharing Mike. I use mops for a variety flies and just use a wire rib to lash the mop to the top of the hook for a body. Never tried un-twisting the mop. Steaming the mop "chenille" might help the fibers stand up a bit more.

Thanks for sharing, this video is awesome. I ice fish with mop flies with great success. I will make these with some weight and maybe a bead head. Can't wait to try it. Thanks again.

I love your approach to fly tying! It's actually very traditional; you have a material and you ask 'how can I tie with this?' very creative!

Do you ever tie these with a cone or tungsten bead head?
@FrugalFlyRodder5 ай бұрын
I rarely use cone or bead heads. If I want weight, I'll add a little lead wire.

This fly has me baffled. I've never tied it, and never tried it. but I guess I should....I just have no idea how to fish it.

Unfortunately, the mop material (2 brands) I bought on Amazon will not split like that.
@FrugalFlyRodder4 жыл бұрын
Some are easier than others. But I'm pretty sure they all do. Try wetting your fingers or twist one way then the other.
