I’ve got one and agree best board I’ve ever ridden it’s the perfect balance of a Pu and Epoxy board. I’d say it has more drive than other constructions when needed and the liveliness in smaller stuff. Fins made a big difference for me stiffer fins definitely felt better with this construction currently using the fcs2 in PG fanning gives it extra pop than the Original PC fins I tried. Can’t wait to try a monster 10 in this construction I’m sold on these boards worth the extra $$$

Wow excellent review i got the 5.11 and the board is magic for good waves but for me when it comes to mushy surf or waves not that steep the board just doesnt help. I’ve heard from other people too that the board “is for good waves” but when i see you surfing it doesnt look like dough. That makes me think is the rider that makes the difference not the ride. Anyway that is my feedback from bali: loved it in echo beach and didnt help at all at middles (airport reef) . Thanks for your reviews and keep going!!

They are pretty different outlines. HH is a round tail land has thicker rails than the JS. I personally like the XG but that type of shape is pretty much what I ride all the time. Hi Woolly, love your reviews, you get to surf so much, and in such good waves daily! I have a serious question & need your thoughts (insights) into Carbotune and sizing a board in this construction for me. Do you think that Carbotune is suited to shorter, wider, and thicker (easy rider) or more normal HPSB dims with their slightly longer rail line? I am 6’0 @ 90kg and with the big $$$ I want to get my order right. Do I go 6’0 Xero Gravity in normal dims @ 32L, or the 5’10 easy rider @ 31.5L (because the 5’11 easy rider is way too thick for my liking at 2 5/8)? My normal volume is 32L in PU, but my gut instincts are telling me to go shorter and wider with Carbotune. But I could be wrong, so I am needing your help Woolly, divine for me whether Carbotune will work best as an easy rider shorter and wider or HPSB dims which are narrower and with a longer rail line? I want this board as an all rounder (waist to well over head), but I want the loose fun of whipping and fitting in the pocket and off end sections too (which you typical get in smaller shorter rail line boards). Thanks in advance, you need to come to NZ to do some reviews, but not for the new JS Big Horse model, if you get my drift ;)
@WoolyTV2 ай бұрын
@@video1critic If it was me I would order the standard DIMs. If your normal boards are around 6’0” 32L I would go that one for sure. The Gravity shape is better suited to be around your height. I ride the 6’1” 33.6L in Carbotune, HYFI and PU, although I don’t ride the PU much after having the Carbotune and HYFI. I agree that I wouldn’t muck around with custom DIMs. I know I’m an old man but I’m one of the fastest paddlers in most line ups and I find 32L too under volume for me even when I’m sitting around 87/88kg. If you wanted to use it as more of a grovel board then the ER DIMs might come in handy for tighter turns in small waves but I don’t have any problems getting tight in the pocket on the 6’1”. Hope that helps
@brendonwiseman87476 ай бұрын
Thanks Wooly ripping!! Did you also use medium fins? And which fins worked best? I find the carbo slightly sticky off the top (only surfed once so far with large fins) but I also slightly over volumed 77kg 31ltrs
@WoolyTV6 ай бұрын
I rode so many different fun combos but most of the times I was on mediums. If I was your weight I would be on medium fins all the time and smalls if my board was feeling too tight. I like the JS solid glass mediums and also the Blackstix when the waves were smaller.
