The game can be played in various ways, but it's nice to see someone play it normally instead of going out of their way to get certain outcomes. You don't often see someone TRULY play the game blind. My best advice is to not take anyone advice, people tend to want the game played in a certain way so they can see someone react to a certain outcome. It's weird because even though everyone wants to watch someone play blind... they end up spoiling it all and taking away from the experience. That aside, I can't wait to see the rest of the series! Just keep doing whatever you want to do!

I second this advice! This game really wants you to go in with no preconceived ideas about what will happen, no expectations. Have fun!
@andrewprahst25292 ай бұрын
Ahhhh, I don't know about that. Telling how the different ways are approached doesn't really tell someone what happens when playing in those ways. However, I do agree that it would be a better experience if it were to occur to someone naturally to try playing in the other ways. I have never seen this happen. It seems almost impossible for a content creator unless a very strict commitment to blindness is taken, because some well-meaning commenter will not consider it a spoiler to suggest a new way to play, especially after the game is finished. But I've seen a content creator do this once with Minecraft, so it can be done. The fact that almost all the comments so far are about blindness is a pretty good omen

It's always nice to see new first-time playthroughs of Undertale, those are increasingly rare nowadays, especially ones relatively untainted by spoilers. Alas, the Undertale fandom has a history of being really bad about spoilers and backseating, which is truly ironic since Undertale places a lot of importance on player choice. As some people have noted or implied, there are multiple endings, but don't worry about those for a first playthrough, you can always reset to try a different route if you want to. Just play the game in whatever way feels most natural. 3:23 Pro tip for any children reading this comment: If you fall in a hole and a stranger offers you "LOVE", say no. Do NOT let him shower you with his "little white friendliness pellets". 4:30 She's mostly a goat, but she's also got some decidedly non-caprine features like paws. I've personally always interpreted them as lion's paws and her particular type of monster as a sort of chimera, even though she doesn't have any obvious snake bits. She's also inspired partly by Mimigas from Cave Story. 4:45 Yeah, that's probably what Toby was hoping for. I really love seeing how people react to Toriel for the first time, especially seeing whether or not they trust her. Interestingly, distrust is a rarity, even though Toriel is clearly set up to be as suspicious as possible. Flowey's backstabbing sets the precedent that nice people are just looking for an opportunity to kill you, which makes Toriel look sus for her niceness. Being suspicious of her isn't unwarranted, either, like you said at 47:40 what she's doing does absolutely constitute kidnapping, regardless of her intentions behind it. In spite of the various ways the game insinuates that Toriel is worthy of suspicion, a lot of people see her motherly demeanor and instantly trust her, with some going so far as immediately treating her as a mother figure, which really goes to show the power of the "motherly old lady" archetype, even though it's clear that there's more to her than that, she can be kinda mysterious. 7:05 This little dance happens when you hold both up and down at the same time, it's a fun little glitch that is useful for grinding encounters. It's also got a silly name, but I can't tell you what the name is because it references a spoiler. :( 9:00 Like Flowey said, the heart is your SOUL. He wasn't lying about that part. 9:20 Wow, that was kind of a rude comment from the narrator. It's just a dummy, after all. Oh well, good thing you're the only one who can hear the narrator. 11:30 All it took was a little bit of literally handholdy tutoriels and you seem to have completely reversed your initial stance of cautious distrust. See what I mean about how the power of the "motherly old lady" archetype? Also, the music when Toriel runs off is called "Unnecessary Tension", which perfectly describes everything about this scene. 21:55 I really like the narrator in this game, it's silly at times. Seeing how it responds to different situations fascinates me. 24:30 Congratulations on increasing your LOVE! =) 25:55 Thankfully, the game only makes you try this puzzle so many times before it gives you a pity win. 28:41 I bet this rock guy is also the tenth dentist from every toothpaste ad ever. It's the rock that doesn't recommend you push it. 38:18 Battle tip: Green attacks are always a good thing. Most of them will slightly heal you, but even the ones that don't heal won't hurt you and they all progress the battle in some way. Touch 'em when you see 'em. 41:20 Random fact: Back in the days of the demo, which went to the end of the ruins, there was a lot of speculation among fans surrounding the toy knife. Mostly, whether or not there'd be a *real* knife later on, and if so, what possible significance it could have. Is there a real knife? Maybe, maybe not, that's besides the point, I just think it's neat that something as simple as a toy knife as a weapon caused a lot of theorizing in the early days of the fandom. Much more reasonable than the sort of unhinged, completely baseless theories that are common about Deltarune, the "sequel" to Undertale(Note: Sequel is in quotations because it's not a true sequel, or a prequel for that matter. There's just no mainstream term for what Deltarune is in relation to Undertale, the two games are closely connected) 42:37 I mean, the protagonist is only, like, half her size. Her calling them small is fair. 45:05 Another tip: The pie is the best item in the game. Try to save it for the final boss if you can (You'll know it when you get there, don't worry.) 52:27 That's exactly how the game wants you to feel. Welcome to Undertale, the game where a homicidal flower mocks you for validating his beliefs by poking an old lady to death with a plastic knife. =) 55:40 Or perhaps... hidden cameras? :) 56:18 NESS EARTHBOUND!? NESS EARTHBOUND IS REAL!? 56:38 Hey, that font... it seems familiar...

I think the best advice for this game is not to listen too much to what people say about it until you've finished three playthroughs. People online can get very... "passionate" about how the game is played. It is best to start with a completely blind playthrough and then fill the gaps in future playthroughs. Don't read the following if you don't want to know - - - - - Spoilers about the Ruins - - - - - In the first room after Toriel leaves you there is a room with a healing item north. There is a piece of clothing where the six holes are. At the spider bakesale you can buy spider goods. In the room with the frogs there is a fourth frog.

A small detail in the Toriel fight is that once you're low on health, she lowers her damage, ends her attacks abruptly when they hit you, and eventually all of her attacks start dodging YOU because she doesn't want to hurt you. The only way for you to die in that fight is to go to the bottom part and forcibly touch the attacks, which shows a face of shock in her a frame before you die. It's lovely to watch people blindly play Undertale! All your choices matter, and that's SPECIFICALLY why you should play it the way you want, it's meant to be played that way.
