That was me and the missus in the Skoda, we were on our way to the hospital as she was in labour, her waters had already broken, she had the baby there and then, in the back seat, it was a water birth in the end! The baby is all well and healthy, we've named him Duncun, after the famous swimmer, it was between that and David, but we went for Duncan! Yes i know it was stupid to drive through a flood but hey ho, hopefully the insurance will cover it.

No its far simpler than that the green commies have passed laws to stop the dredging of rivers, like we had been doing for the past 1000 years, consequently they lack the capacity to drain away water and all the new housing estates they built on flood plains get flooded. but if you want to believe Bgates is some kind of God and agreeing with the anti carbonists that the climate is "changing" then you carry on.

Soon found out though as the water came in. Called my wife in embarrassment who came down with the land rover and pulled me out and back home all be it just a mile!. It took me ages drying it out and draining the water from the engine where I used a wet and dry vacuum cleaner through the glow plug holes. It did run again and didn't seem to have any issues. If there weren’t such people, the climate change catastrophists would not be able to blame car drivers for causing ‘climate change’, and might have to admit that the rivers are only prone to flooding because they’re all silted up - because the Waterways Agency stopped dredging the slow meandering rivers in the 1970s as part of a false pretext of preserving the delicate ecosystems. Apparently there’s a very well documented and long accepted water flow engineering principle that, if you dredge a deep V-shaped central channel along the course of a slow meandering river, the water will flow more quickly and efficiently, thus removing excessive quantities of water from upstream, during periods of high rainfall, and vastly reducing the risks of flooding. It’s really very obvious. All liquids flow faster down narrow channels, and slower down wide channels. Here’s the final lesson: I learned that this principle is used in the design of sewers, from my half brother John who I disliked because of the way he badmouthed my Dad on the day of his funeral. In 2020 John participated in the obviously unsafe and ineffective chemistry experiment, and died. He was obese and apparently had other issues apart from being a prize (see yoU Next Tuesday. So, the moral of the story is that it’s apparently possible to learn useful stuff from prize (see yoU Next Tuesdays…! Peace 🏴

It is not so much the river needing dredged but the fields need to be given better boundaries to the river! But the bigger problem is the bridge is in fact a pinch point and has to be replaced with one that allows the river to flow freely under it! If the council deem to do that then they would be better raising the road on both sides to the height of the new bridge surface! But if this is only a "B" road they will do SFA about it all!

I lived in the Forge Mill and saw the floods up close. Winter 62/63 was fun.

I'm wondering how they managed to get all that bad weather back then? There wasn't a fraction of the jets then to seed the clouds. HAARP hadn't been built. Aliens maybe? 😂😂😂😂😂 @@DavidHayBand-fy6ie

Funny thing. I have a Skoda Superb, and just went to the tip. The entrance was under about three feet, so I just revved up and ploughed through it!!! Same on the way out. As long as the exhaust gases are going out, and you give it some thrutch,. you'll be ok!!!😂

Good luck with that philosophy; the real danger is if the car has a low-mounted engine intake - the exhaust gases exiting the rear are just a prelude to sucking water into the inlet, and then you're hydro-locked.

@@saxon-mt5bywon't pay any attention...you are responding to a full blown Richard head. Revving/speeding drivers thru flood waters - the absolute bane of all life. Numb skulls.
