Word of the Buddha (Part 15) | Ajahn Brahm | 28 April 2024

Ajahn Brahm is taking a classic text compiled by the Venerable Nyanatiloka titled the “Word of the Buddha” which provides a staged summary of the Buddha Dhamma. But Ajahn Brahm is heavily revising the text to bring it up to date with contemporary English language usage.
Ajahn translates the pali sentence by sentence instead of word for word to make it powerful and accessible for us to understand.

"Instead of going to war, just give up your life." This is a profound statement, but the alternative is more damaging. War is bad, yet human can't stay away from it because they are clinging to life! The cycle continues until the final war!

We have the true right to defend ourselves if someone is using violence to threaten us, another, our property or to take away freedoms. This is what it means to have both sides of the brain completely in balance, with the pineal gland open. This is the higher will. The sacred feminine principle of doing no harm, married to the sacred male principle of self defence. This is the higher will. This is real Law.
