But I feel like I haven't been ever praying enough, as Scriptures has said, "pray unceasingly, for the sake of the Kingdom of God!"

Thank you Bishop Barron for this profound homily. We often say Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant without getting into the true meaning of this. Your homily provides us a good meditation. The metaphor of this Ark accompanying us the ‘battle’ is very healing. The image of God who cares for the entire creation, even those we think do not deserve God’s care is very challenging. In my work with Muslims, Mary is one of our great meeting point. A whole Sura 19 of the Quran is dedicated to Mary, She is the only woman mentioned the the Islamic sacred book. We once went on a pilgrimage with Muslims from Northern Nigeria to the ‘house of Mary’ in Ephesus, modern day Turkey. A deep spiritual experience. There were Franciscan looking after the shrine, even though Turkey is a Muslim country today. The love for Mary can help us win many battles, including the battle against religious fundamentalism which is eating our world like cancer. Any shrine of Mary draw people together, it is so heart warming, so touching always. May we follow Mary to be Christ Bearer to this broken world. Happy feast of theAssumption of our ever Sweet Mother!

Blessings Bishop Barron. It would be difficult to exaggerate the impact of thus sermon. I have always been very surface with the assumption. OK, Mary rose to heaven. Hail Mary, enjoy eternity. Bishop Barron, God’s spirit is with you. This message resonates with me. I love love that story of King David dancing with all abandonment in the presence of God, for God, like the rejoicing of the poor widow when she would find her lost coin. Let me share a technique I use to open up conversation about God and faith. Anytime I meet someone who hints at bible knowledge I always ask them, not for their favorite scripture quote, but rather their favorite story. We humans were creates by God to love and remember stories. I love to share this story of David dancing in front of the ark, stripped down, humbled in front of God’s people. What a model for us! Thank you Bishop for connecting that story with Mary. I now have a longer story to tell. Grace to you Bishop. May God give you the gift of prophecy.

I'm kind of a questioning protestant right now. Typically, I am struggling to understand the Catholic view of Mary. I know there is no worship of Mary. But there is a very high veneration for her. But the idea of Mary as the ark of the covenant clears up a lot of things. As the ark, she holds God's word. But she is not the word herself. But as the ark, she participates in His glory. The ark was greatly feared and for great reason, but it was only so fearsome because of God's word inside it.
@annarodriguez98683 жыл бұрын
God warned that no one should ever touch the Ark and one person with good intentions touched it and he dropped dead. What is the fate of those who do not respect and show reverence to the Mother of the Son of God? May God have mercy on them.
