Understanding the context makes a world of difference. Freud wrote, "The antidote to Christianity is literacy", Rome won the war of the Jews, so Jesus is hanging from a tree for 2000 years. The Christian home is in Rome, not Jerusalem. "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree:" Galatians 3:13 Christian videos present the typical preaching to the choir, since literate people don't waste time with this nonsense. I suspect the Roman Empire had atheists. Matthew 17:20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” I like asking believers how they can possibly think their faith is respectable, given Jesus said faith is worthless, since you can't expect obedience when ordering mountains to move?

@Stupidityindex I was just re-reading Lord of the Rings. It's interesting to find out that J.R.R Tolkien wasn't literate. People like you are quite sad. Everything is reduced to materialism. No room for beauty, no room for higher truths. As evidenced by your total lack of imagination concerning the parable of the mountain. That's why Jesus spoke in parables, so that self satisfied scoffers wouldn't be able to understand what He was saying, because they don't deserve to.

The past few days, others and I went to Mexico to build a playground swingset for orphaned children run by nuns. Yes, it was hard work and quite humbling asking for donations to pay for the swing set. Yes, it was an issue crossing it at the border by dealing with Mexican customs. Yes, it was very hot outside when I assembled it after a few days. BUT boy did it feel great to watch those young ones embrace their new playground equipment. Also, the nuns' faces were teeming with excitement and gratitude for our team for providing it. I heard Bishop's Sermon on my way to work and I felt a special uplift to GET To Work for Jesus's Mission on Earth. Obedience, Obedience, and Obedience was propelling me to do my super small part in this world. God Bless everyone!

Someone travelling at the speed of light would reach the end of the Solar System in under 27 hours. So in 2000 years Jesus would have gone much, much further. But, of course, we understand that what Bishop said was just for the sake of illustration. After all, even 2000 light-years is just a spec of distance in the universe with a radius of 50 billion light-years... And I liked the comparison with dots, lines, two and three dimensional shapes. Anyway ultimately I decided to do my duties with the strength of the Spirt as a mother , wife and a daughter and to participate the Holy mass trusting my Lord is within me . Thank you Jesus for your explanation... Dear Rev. Bishop Baron, I am from Sri Lanka and accidentally found this channel while watching the daily online adorations of DRC Colombo. Usually we don't have opportunities to listen these type of deep explanations in our local parishes. Our church structure is still traditional and ritualistic. It's total weight to the scripture is not very high. Pray for our community to get the true light of the Lord gradually. It may take time. Though it is hard to understand some words l use my dictionary and follow these sermons joyfully. Really it brings me a great pleasure and peace. AMEN

Thank you, Bishop Barron for hosting a nice internet site where s person can post comments. I am highly supportive of the churches - each one has its positive aspects. I have travelled the USA for over three and a half years, talking to people about the Gospel. You know how hard it is to find a place to post a comment? It is quite difficult. They took all the bulletin boards down, and those who would do good in some small way are silenced by the overload of attention to commerce. That never worked with the Babylonians, the Assyrians, nor the Romans. It is not going to work now. Christians trying to fit into a commerce agenda - it's probably always going to amount to frustration and separation, lack of progress, lack of praise. These are serious matters. Gravity, itself is not something that is going to go away. And neither is the truth of God.
