I liked the story. Repetition and reading of a simple sentence is something that was implemented in Rat-a-tat tat on Ch4. Mind you, it was basically a spin off of this series and I do believe the animation and music were by the same people.

I'm always amazed at the effort they used to put into hand-drawn animation. Even when it was fairly limited, they still went above and beyond.
