Everyone talks about the emotion that Evan has to Portray but can we talk about Mrs . Murphy (Cynthia) that poor woman practically cries through out the whole damn show . And she’s just AMAZING

I have to agree. He's not just acting. He feels it. The others are great too but MLB made this scene all too real. He really mastered the mix of frustrated/angry monologue and song.

I saw Michael Lee Brown live. We booked matinee tickets towards the end of Ben Platt's run only to be disappointed to find out his understudy was doing matinees for the rest of the run. Our initial disappointment was completely gone after Waving Through A Window, and by the time You Will Be Found came around we were hooked on this guy. But the absolute honest to god anxiety attack he had during the speech at the beginning of You Will Be Found was insane. The most realistic thing I've ever seen on stage. Michael Lee Brown is absolutely incredible. The tears, snot, spit, everything just flying because he was SO in it. My god. No words. Words fail. By far the best understudy I've ever seen. Even this still shakes me hard.

Yes they are all great, but Michael Lee Brown just gives the character such authenticity. I never got to see the show but if he was this good watching it on a screen then I can't imagine how awesome it was in person.

I had the same experience! Booked to see Ben before his run ended, around October 2017, but didn't know about the matinee switch. I ended up seeing Ben a week later, and saw the show another time, too, but nothing hit me quite like the first time I saw it with Michael. He was phenomenal! Really embodied the character and his emotional journey. So glad I saw him!

MLB gave such an incredible performance with this scene. The others do a great job with it too but he is able to convey so much anger, regret, and sorrow. He's not just singing the words. He makes himself live through it on that stage.

I read the book 2 years ago. I just saw the show in Broadway with Ben Levi Ross as Evan 2 weeks ago. I must say the show was more gut wrenching compared to the book. The music and the singing are so beautiful. Words Fail is on a different level on the show. I do not think I can stand watching the show again, for now. It hit something similar in my life and it was painful. On the other hand, crying while viewing this could also be therapeutic. Thank you for this upload!

Unfortunately KZbin would yank it down and probably my account too if I did. I've seen it happen to others who did. All of the actors in Dear Evan Hansen are incredible but yeah Michael Lee Brown would be my favorite. He plays Evan in a unique way. Not over the top and someone who would truly blend into the background at school unless you are looking right at them. And of course this scene shows just how real he can make the performance.

@Father_of_Death Жыл бұрын
The Murphy's are the true villains of the story. They "tried" to help Connor but they couldn't. Then they assume Evan was friends with him and kinda pushed him into the web of lies. They truly failed Connor and because of Cynthia's pushing and begging they were setting Evan up to go down the same path. So I can't entirely fault Evan on this. Poor guy was pressured into fabricating a friendship.
