I started working from home and have been ever since December 2020. I bought a lap desk from Barnes & Noble and I love it. Mine is literally just for a laptop. But it makes it easier to move around a bit so you’re not stuck in one place. The only danger to it (for me) is if I get too comfortable, I get sleepy 😂

Slippers. Yes! Love them. Also, I'm Canadian, too. No shoes in the house.

Same! I live in slippers 8 months of the year. My back to school list includes slippers for the office, my toes were freezing during my zoom lab meeting today.

Hi Jennifer. hope you're doing well and are in good health I'm 18 and starting my first job which i work remotely at home for and i wanted to prepare for working from home and cam across your video. I'm a huge believer of if i want to learn something or excel at it i have to learn it or learn about it. and as simple as work or working from home is, your video is so helpful because i don't know a single person who works from home in my family or close circle. im also from the UK and even though its spring/autumn, its practically winter here all the fricking time and we are entering winter. the tips and advise of keeping myself warm is necessary. honestly small things like the stuff you mentioned are overlooked and it didn't cross my mind. a year ago i would be in education, running around and revising and now imma be at home most of the time. sorry if it seems like i'm rambling, i just love these helpful videos; they literally help me get more organized and is just great honestly. keep it up!!1 (ps im wearing my dads slippers right now cuz he's left for work but i promise, i will buy some.)

The marble lap desk looks really cool. I need one of those! Thanks for sharing this. I've been WFH full time since 2013 and one of the greatest things I got is a sitdown/stand up desk.
@JenniferBrick4 жыл бұрын
My husband got one of those recently, and I'm kinda jealous. Do you switch it between standing and sitting often?
@ELI5FI4 жыл бұрын
@@JenniferBrick Yes, I actually do! If you can find an anti fatigue matt to stand on you can almost work all day standing up. It's really hard to find one that you can also roll your chair over. But I would say right now I work 50% standing and 50% sitting. It makes a big difference.

@@ELI5FI eventually I'm going to break and get my own. Good tip on the antifatigue mat - I hadn't thought of that.

I have all the items you recommended, including good slippers. I invested in a visual timer, made a huge impact on my ability to relax during the breaks and a glass waterbottle with security lid.

1. A second monitor. I have one in my office and one I carry to the dining room, when I feel boxed in. 2. +1 on AirPod Pros. Being unfettered. Love! 3. +1 on risers. 4. Wireless keyboard by Logitech. 5. Camera with ring light. 6.Bluetooth Mouse. 1 less wire. 7. Old school pencils! Finding odd sense of comfort with them Sharpening them, the smell of the wood shavings! #Ticonderoga

Few things in life top the experience of a clean pencil shave. I remember as a kid finding the combo of the right pencil + starpener so the shavings would curl around and look like a flower (at least I thought they did haha). Funny you mention the second monitor, I just bought a second second monitor (we just set up a home office in our basement apartment we hadn't rented out yet). With kids back in school half time I needed one on our main level, and since the two aren't adjoined I was too lazy to carry it back and forth. The second one is a cheapie HP I got on sale but it's doing the job! When the world opens up and you start having to travel for work again, you should check out the portable monitors you can attach to your laptop. They're a bit price (~$400), but that second screen is so worth it. I was going to get one, but then we went into lockdown.

@@JenniferBrick When traveling, I used to use an iPad and the software Duet. It turns your ipad into a second monitor. I hightly endorse!

These are awesome! As someone who is completely new to online classes, these will solve all my problems. I'm an Android person too! I love having a physical notebook as well.

Yay for Android, the superior option 😃 I know it's weird, but get the lap desk! I do a lot of course still and I always use it and get comfy for lectures or video trainings.

No1. Good quality merino wool socks in addition to the slippers, that work during the summer, that keep your feet comfortable in access to air, and during the winter, they keep your feet warm as well. 2. wet flushable wipes. 3. Hand skin moisturizer. 4. wall mirror or stand mirror, for once in a while to see your face for self-approval 5. a shredder and 6, but not least hand censored medium size trash bin. That is what I can't work without it and I work remotely for 12 years as an online interpreter.

Your voice sounds normal up until the end of most sentences, - then it goes weird and creaky, like you're in pain? Hope you're okay? ❤
