Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Humans need work that has purpose and meaning. We need something to work toward and look forward to. It gives one meaning and fulfillment. One pretty good definition of happiness is "making progress toward a worthy goal".

There is nothing meaningful and purposeful in working in marketing. 90% of jobs have no meaning or purpose outside of “making money”.

As a vocational counsellor supporting people with mental health problems, you are exactly right. Work is more beneficial to most conditions than meds. A lot of the time meds are not helpful. If you manage to get working and get the meds right you flourish

Masculine natured humans need purpose. Not all humans. Doesn't mean male or female, however, those more aligned with a feminine nature would find it easier, if not preferable, to be a "stay-at-home" individual. It's best to know yourself and listen to what your intuition tells you is right for your direction. Great quote btw, looks similar to Earl Nightingale's definition of success: "Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal". The teacher who always wanted to teach is a success not due to financial gain but because of passion and fulfillment

Hard work with a PURPOSE. With growth attached to the process. And that what he is/was doing. Hard work by itself is not all rewarding, and for some, just a way to escape life and keep control and deny emotions and other aspects of life that make them uneasy. If hard work was THE thing by itself, slaves would be the happiest people alive.

Tell me about it. I love work and building my companies. And I am constantly told to chill, relax more or have balance. Well, I’m happy and I have balance - it just happens to be a bank balance and the time freedom to do whatever I want which I exercise whenever I want. Which is why you won’t reach me for weeks on end when I’m travelling, camping, hiking and surfing with my friends and family. But hey, I hear you. Balance yo.

Yeh, I'm the same, I get depressed if I'm not on the move. I tried office work and I'm fine for an hour or 2 but after that I just can't focus so I just stick to warehouse work during the day and work on my business and stocks for a couple hours at night. Plus I workout at my warehouse too so that keeps me fitter than the average guy. 😅

Stuck in that forever "justification and validation I did good" loop. Common trait of someone who didn't get something (generally love or attention) from their parents. Forever trying to prove their value as a person.

Alex I want you to answer my question. If a person who has no desire(it may be boredom) and is fine with staying wherever he is in life , loves daydreaming and admiring things from far away, will he be able to make any kind of impact on the society. He just wishes like everyone else does for things to automatically happen. How can such a person like to do work???

Keep learning until you find things that you're passionate about. At some point, make the decision to focus in on one of those things. You'll figure out the next steps.

@@virajrajpurohityour brain is a problem solving machine. I find asking the mind the question that you want to solve will manifest the answer. "How can I see clearly what I am meant to do in this life?" Or, "How can I discover the thing that brings out this inner passion I know exists in me?" Play with it. Remain curious. The universe will make it clear in time... Even if it's just remaining where you are and doing what you're doing. Your subconscious will bring the answer. You just gotta tune in and listen.

I love your content however, you should consider taking both sides of the coin. I’m a expert plumber, Water Filtration, expert and a licensed well technician the harder I work the less money I make because I run a plumbing company the smarter I am the more money I make you need to consider the reality that in different industries, the harder you work, the less money you make, and that’s exactly what it was for me for years, then I started working smarter and making better money..
