Thank you, Justin! I want to understand every aspect of my guitar from play, to maintenance, and of course the rich history.

thanks for tip!! I was able to clean my fretboard without removing the strings! I used wood spits to block the strings under the neck.

Lol didnt even think about loosening the strings 🤦♂️. Was worried the fretboard cleaner wuld mess up my strings, or string cleaner messing up fretboard. Guna try this out tho. Thanks for upload.

I was looking for a way to be able to clean the fretboard on a guitar that has locking tuners and a traditional type vibrato bridge, I guess I am going to have to wind a little more string onto the posts of my locking tuners in future, I do wind a little on them but not enough to slacken the strings enough use those string spreaders.

I always use a couple ballpoint pens, works fine...
@amplifiedparts7 жыл бұрын
Yeah that'll do in a pinch for sure. I tend to use these in my personal shop because they hold the strings back nicely and have the rubber to protect finish . Plus, I lose pens constantly so maybe by having a specialized tool I wont misplace them. Haha.

amplifiedparts If you have a tendency to loose pens and you use them to hold the strings back, I'd be afraid the guitar would be MIA one day.

@@amplifiedparts can u do this method for classical guitar?????
@simonsamuel38775 жыл бұрын
Great, I understand. But is that possible with acoustic guitar strings? Bcos they are less stretchy than electric strings I feel. Won't they break?
@drewarthur21694 жыл бұрын
So this works for an acoustic too, right? I’m kinda new to working on my guitars and I have an old sigma that needs the fretboard conditioned and cleaned

i wanna ask that is it hamfull to the string when i loosen them too much?
@amplifiedparts6 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't be a problem. You might want to be careful to not kink or snag them on anything but other than that there's no issues with loosening them.
@tolgatokgoz30396 жыл бұрын
Thank you. This info is very helpful to me but i wanna ask another thing. If i tune my guitar to such different tunes (i mean E standart to drop C) so often will that cause a problem?
@amplifiedparts6 жыл бұрын
@@tolgatokgoz3039 If your nut and saddles aren't sharp or snagging the strings it shouldn't be a problem. The only other area might be the holes where the strings mount in your tuners. If they're smooth(they should be) then no problem. If they were sharp you might have an issue regardless of changing tunings.

With a floyd rose, could you just dive bomb the trem and put a stack of business cards (or whatever you have that won't damage the guitar) and achieve the same result? Asking for a friend :)

Why not
@nightworkband77152 жыл бұрын
This may be a stupid question however I am not a guitar tech and limit myself to only polishing my guitars, obviously changing strings regularly. I leave the adjustments for you pros. This is why I change one string at a time because I have read so often removing them all at once releases all the tension on the neck which may cause a need for an adjustment. My long-winded question is by using these, even though you are loosening the strings if you are wedging in the spreaders immediately you are keeping the tension on the neck as needed to avoid any drastic change? even as I ask it sounds stupid because at some point you have to remove the spreaders. Anyway, your feedback is appreciated.
@amplifiedparts2 жыл бұрын
These string spreaders are not intended to provide the kind of tension the neck sees when the strings are tuned to pitch, and for all intents and purposes, there is no sufficient tension on the neck when using these. Some necks do not move when the tension is released, but if that is a concern for you, it may be best to consult a professional tech on how you plan to use these.

will this work on acoustic guitar with brass strings?
@amplifiedparts2 жыл бұрын
The type of guitar and the material of the strings should not affect the performance of these string spreaders, so they can be used in the majority of applications with standard neck sizes and string gauges.
@aadin2 жыл бұрын
@@amplifiedparts ty so much, how loose would you say they need to be? If retightened, it won't lose its durability, the bronze strings?
@amplifiedparts2 жыл бұрын
@@aadin they should only be loose enough so that there is no tension on the strings. Loosening them and tightening them back up when you're finished should not affect the lifespan of the strings.
