Tip for loosing the straps, if you open the ratchet all the way until it lays flat, it unlocks it and you do not need to hold the locks with your fingers. It will feel like you can’t open it that far, but it will and will pop when the locks are released. It can be done with one hand once you have done it a couple times.

6:41 When you want to loosen/remove ratchet straps, lift the release lever all the way up then rotate the ratcheting lever all the way open, so the lever ends up in line with the base. The ratchet strap will release instantly, sometimes violently, depending on how tight the strap was put on. I am the ratchet strap master. 👍

My Dad had a shipping container like that which a freezer came in and he converted into a shelving unit by using the front as shelves, and it was in his garage for over 30 years filled with stuff he just couldn't bear to throw away. He'd painted it with several coats of marine paint he had left over from when we had a smallish boat, it was a fetching brown colour (well, it was the 70's)! but it seemed to be oil and water proof, so maybe it was a good choice. Just a random memory but a good one - when it was finally retired we found old car parts from cars I never knew he had and a load that even he couldn't identify.

Congrats on the new A/C unit. I am having a chuckle at your expense though. A mechanic of your caliber failing in the basic operation of a ratchet strap. Reminds me of the time I brought home my 500 pound Coats tire machine Ebay purchase. Guy loaded it on my pickup with a forklift and I unloaded it at home in the driveway with boards like Ray. Another rule of Load Securement. You need to say " That's not going anywhere" lol. For those who don't know how to use a ratchet strap. Keep it flat, Feed the end into the the slot in the binding wheel. Pull Tight, and ratchet it. Keep the strap tight otherwise it will bind up and become a mess to get untangled. I've been around a lot of heavy duty straps as a truck driver. To perform unclickage, open the ratchet all the way. It's a lot easier, and if the part is in good working order it should just unravel with ease.

Here we see you in your beginning "on your own" odyssey of building up your new business having to work in a less ideal environment when there are other YT "mechanics" that have state of the art shops with all the toys. I know it's because they are just rich boys that like to tinker with vehicles and are not dependent upon the work for their livelihood. Still, it's a shame that you have to struggle so much right now but we out here in YT land DO see how you're really enjoying it. YOU are a hero to the rest of us Sir. Also, I know that your new AC machine is in warranty but when it gets a bit older and needs fixing, especially the electronics board, remove the board and send it to Northridgefix. I recently saw him diagnose and repair just such a board on an AC machine like yours. In fact, I'm sure that if you had any kind of electronics repairs that he could do it. Put that box back together to store old parts to take to the recyclers.
