Mike, are those small bleeding cracks in your hands very painful too? If so, see a dermatologist; you might have a topical allergy to formaldehyde, a much too common compound found in modern clothing (google 'Land's End Delta lawsuit) and some MDF/enginerded wood products. Hello fellow AvE fans. Thank you, Mike. Stellar channel.

And now we find out that Mike is a Dream Theater fan. I might have to stop watching the videos here. I'm not sure I even feel like me any more. My own reality is called into question. Am I me? Personal story: During basic training I was assigned guard duty with a guy for 8 hours one day, and through talking with him found he was also a dream theater fan. With no instruments but my voice, a few various surfaces, and his hands and feet and legs, we did our best to hum/drum/and sing the entire images and words album. I like to feel like we would have made John Mike and James proud.

Your punch is used in the fire service during vehicle rescue. We call it a spring loaded center punch and it's used to break out the side and rear safety glass windows of a car before we go after the posts with the 'Jaws of Life' HURST tool. By pressing the spring loaded center punch in a lower corner of the window it shatters into the small cubes that safety glass is designed to break into and then we can pull the paces out. In training we are 'suppose' to cover the glass with duct tape to keep it from flying but in the field with the golden hour clock ticking, a tarp over the occupants is much faster.

At 11:33 where you need to glue a dowel where the center needs to rotate freely, perhaps try taping the part the glue needs to hold, then add wax to the rotating shaft center along with the hole the dowel rotates in. Remove the tape and glue up. I would be annoyed to keep coming back to exercise the glue-up to prevent the center of the shaft sticking, and half the time I would definitely forget after drinking some of my favorite barley-hops juice.

Neat little project Mike. So you're wearing sophisticated glasses nowadays! I was used to being able to focus at about 10cm from my eyes. that sweetspot has moved to about 20cm now and it needs more lighting.. I tried a +1,5 set of glasses, and that revealed the macro ability again..

Thank you. Yup, I should be wearing them. Oddly enough, I'm used to a slightly blurry world, I haven't adjusted to seeing clearly yet.

I find myself repeatedly watching your videos and pulling out little tidbits of information every time. Especially as I approach new builds or have time for shop projects. Hi there. I'm new to woodworking and find your videos both helpful and inspiring. My 80 year old mother has taken up making macrame in this our 3rd UK lockdown. I watched this vid and made two of these stands for mum. She uses them to hold the dowels as she works on her latest project. These were the first mortise and tenons joints I've made. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep up the good works.
