-Electret filters, recognized for their high filtration efficiency, operate on the principle of electrostatic attraction between charged fibers and particles. Research on electret filter media encounters challenges such as charge stability, uniformity, and performance optimization across particle sizes. Numerical simulations with GeoDict provide insights into electrostatic forces, airflow dynamics, and particle behavior not easily observed experimentally.
In the workshop, we demonstrate the modeling and simulation of electrostatic effects on fibers and particles, introducing capabilities like modeling electrophoresis and tracking surface charge decay. The new simulation framework enables understanding and optimizing electret filter media design, aiming to shorten development cycles and significantly save resources for new product developments - allowing the filtration industry to adjust to constantly changing requirements for clean air products.
The video is part of the GeoDict Innovation Conference 2024 and the simulations were run with the GeoDict 2024 release.
