WorkHorse Chassis W24 How to Change the Power Steering Fluid Oil and Filter.

I did this work on our 2005 38J Winnebago Voyage
The filter I used is WIX Filter - 57191 Heavy Duty Spin-On Power Steering Filter
Note the WIX 57191 filter uses a 64mm x 14 flute wrench, same as my Onan generator oil filter.
But the OEM filter may be 65mm I need to have someone confirm this for me

I couldn’t find Valvoline but found Fram , and it meets 1050017. Thanks for saving me time not undoing the lines . Hardest thing was getting the inside old filter off .

Hey Kevin, I was watching this video again getting ready to possibly do this to see if I can quiet my pump a little as they are all noisy it seems but you mentioned the oil turning black and it not being near combustion like the engine oil. I may be able to offer an explanation. I always thought the same way that the combustion turned the oil black but the other day I was watching I believe project farm test different engine oils and when he put the brand new oil on burners to heat them up they turned black without ever being in an engine! You mentioned this fluid gets hot so that is probably why it turned dark!

Hey Kevin, another great video, thank you, and another action item for my list. Can you share what the part numbers of the filter sockets are that were needed to remove the existing and the newer filters. Thanks again for taking the time to make this video. Did you use the levelers to raise the wheels off the ground? Oh one more question. Do you have sway-bars on your W24? I couldn't believe my W22 had no sway-bars and no steering stabilizer. It's in the shop this week getting new sway-bars and a steering stabilizer.

I think this is what I used Steelman 06139 Oil Filter Cap Wrench 74mm x 14 Flute Yes I used the levers to raise wheels off the ground but I try not to get under the RV while doing so. Let me know how your upgrades go and if it makes a difference ? Thanks for watching.

Just became your biggest fan now!! We've just got a 2003 Rexhall Rexair and it's impossible to find any owners manual anywhere online...thanks a lot for these classes! Btw, Ive noticed that your brake linkage has the lubing plug on it (mine doesn't) , im having major issues with my pedal (super stiff) and I've tried to lub that vertical pipe from the top and bottom, it helped just a little bit but still stiff, how did you got your lub plugs in it? Can you share anything about your brakes system?

Hey Kevin, I ordered my amsoil synthetic power steering fluid that meets the GM spec because someone on the board said it made the noisy w22 pump quiet… my issue is I have the Atwood levelegs and they aren’t very great jacks.. they work but someone familiar with them said they shouldn’t be used to lift the rig off the ground, not to mention for how slow they are it would take forever… is there a way to do this without jacking the front up? I have a big fluid extractor and I saw someone use it on a Toyota and they put it down the suction line and sucked the new fluid through the system… not sure if there is anyway to do this and get a good drain without lifting the front? My other thought was just drain the reservoir and fill it back a couple times but that really isn’t going to get all the fluid… any help would be appreciated!

I'm not sure if it is a proprietary part from workhorse or not ? But I would take to a local hydraulic place that makes up new hoses and see if they can make a replacement let me know what you find out.

I'm sure the gearbox is the low point, so draining from there would seem sufficient.

@@ktoutdoor Are you still pleased with the Wix filter? I have a W22 (Workhorse filter w8003092, I believe it uses the same filter) and getting ready to service the power steering. Hearing a whining noise - 50k miles. Can you send the link for the fluid?

@@skipperdom223 Yes its been working just fine I got the power steering fluid at local parts store. Some where in the video I talk about the oil and what the manual recommends I just don't remember at the moment .
