Thanks for a tremendous video. Just had my Tiffen Alegro towed to Campingworld for $1250!! They said they can not fix the brakes, needs to go to a truck repair shop.! Brake peddle was going to the floor. Workhorse chassis 2006 Open Road model 33ft. Probably going to get it back in my driveway and.......fix it myself or find a friend with some knowledge. I'm pretty handy, I take a lot of pictures!! first!!! Kinda cold in RI right now, maybe no trip to Florida this year. Thanks again

Thanks for this. I managed to get my rear pads out without removing the callipers (!) and was at a loss how to get the new pads in (once I can find them here in Australia). Now I know. Your video also explained clearly why my pads looked the way they do (passenger side worn but OK, driver side stuffed, driver side inner GONE). Yes, the calliper slides are rusted to buggery. You deserve more than just a like-and-suabscribe 👏👏👏

I’m no pro and am always trying to make better videos. All those things you mention are peeves of mine when I watch other videos, especially music on a how to video.

Absolutely. Those slides are the #1 cause of brake failure. Gotta keep them clean and greased.

Great video! Thanks for posting it. Do you know what the #6 hex bolt should be torqued to when reassembling? Thanks!

I recently saw a brake pad replacement job where the person did not push the fluid back up into the unit. The person opened the brake bleader and let the old fluid flow out while pressing the pistons back in. Made sense to me.
@ufixit
@ufixit 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. You can open the bleeder screw and compress the pistons easily. The only advantage to doing it the way I show is that it will reveal a reverse flow obstruction if you have one. Thank you for watching and for your comments.

What about painting the brake calipers to keep them from rusting again or at least slow down the rusting ?. RVs sit a lot. Good idea about replacing the brake lines.

Thanks for posting this video, it looks like I will be pulling the rear wheels off my Trek in the morning to check for dragging brakes. One note though, It would be nice if you were to list the part numbers and tools you bought for this project in the description, not just as text overlay during the video.

Can you talk about replacing the spindle?
@ufixit

Yes sir. That one may take me a bit though. I do them as I’m working on my own rig. I broke a coil spring the other day, so that is next up on the list along with shocks and steering stabilizer.

Ya, thats my fault. I finished video 2,3,and 4. I got sidetracked and haven’t finished editing #1 and 5. I’m going to be shooting some front suspension work next week and plan to get it all posted up after that. Sorry for the delay.

Try calling Super Steer. They carry a lot of steering components. If they don’t have one, I bet they can help you find one.
