As silly as it may sound, put some rubber inner tube on all the areas that "shut" together. This will quiet the slamming metal and it really makes a difference in the noise. It makes a significant "calmness" difference.
@watrgrl22 жыл бұрын
I agree with you! I think those beautiful animals that will eventually give their lives to be our meat should be treated with more respect and kindness even if it’s just to make those chutes less noisy and padded so as not to cause injury to animals that try to escape. Those bison were being needlessly injured and traumatized.

That would help with the noise. Don't think for safety reason it would suit the humans as some (more quiet) gate might not show that it needs to still be closed entirely. Maybe some $$ hydraulic closing gates. Meat prices would probably have to go up though.

I've seen them on those massive Wyoming ranches - 6000' elevation, 60mph winds, 25 degrees out, and it's pouring which immediately turns into ice that's being driven sideways by the brutal wind. When my husband had Pancreatic cancer he was told by the doctor to get your affairs in order you will be dead in 2 weeks but we took him to MD Anderson and they devised a treatment plan. We kept him alive for 2 years by eliminating sugar from his diet and fed him a high protein diet. We fed him bison all the time because it’s so low fat and high protein, it’s the best meat there is. Cancer cells and abnormal cells feed on sugar in the blood stream. Refined sugar might taste good. But it's one of the worse things for the human body. Inflammation of tissue also feeds and grows from sugar. So many people don't realize nor understand how important diet is...even for animals. I'm glad you got 2 more years with your husband. Pancreatic cancer is very hard to beat. Usually when people are diagnosed, they have less than a year of life. BTW, I'm a surgeon and seen my share of pancreatic cancer. Those bison have the look of fear in their eyes. Steel plates and the sound of them being kicked train the beasts to associate the ruckus with an unpleasant experience. Replace the plates with heavy timber to reduce the associated noise and bring down the level of beastly panic. Panic/fear/=higher vet bills/slower weight gain.

It seems like it would be a hell of a lot easier to lure them in with some carrots or treats and not have to fight them . The bison could be really dangerous if pissed off . Those electric shockers are sure to piss them off . Slaming gates are loud and also frighten them , so it might be a good idea to quiet them with bushings or something . Knowing they are going to get a good treat each time could even make them more than cooperative. Better to baby them a little than have one hurt itself or a handler . Make a trail of bait and let them find it themselves so they are not afraid of the chute . Deer bait is cheap for treats . They might really like sugar beets , but the chute is the only place they should ever find them. The big one might fight the others to get there first . Always make freinds with animals that can easily hurt you!

This was horrible to watch. OK, they're very big but they're also distressed, confused and frightened. As for the electric cattle prods/stun guns, you're making a bad situation even worse. Shame on all of you.

Yep that's dangerous work with such magnificently strong and sturdy animals! I thought the secret to get a big bull in is to let him follow a big cow . . . ??? :) He is smart about the gates . . . looks like they all swing the same way. He always turns to the left. Maybe lasso the head and winch him in? :) Sedate him . . . !

First real Buffalo I saw was a the Utica zoo here in New York. I was camping with my best friend and his family, we went to the Utica Club brewery then the zoo . Now I’m a farm boy so I’m use to big bulls, but not this big . This bull was by himself in a fence of chain link fence the same size as the holding pen you started at. Well Lee and I were only one’s looking at him and he as making noises at him . He was standing in the middle of the pen, then I started to growl like a bull so he would walk around. Well he didn’t move at all , so we turn our backs to him to walk away when we jumped in the air when he charged us and hit that fence so hard that the fence shook all the way around that pen . Will I’m telling you that nobody could have caught us some was coming from our snickers. I’m surprised he didn’t go thru that fencing!!!!! And he was as big as big Joe

@lupinchenbrause90173 жыл бұрын
yeah, i think so too. All those chasing, the loud noises, a fckn taser, there has to be a better way. I don’t know if bisons can get as tame as a cow but if so, why don’t try building up trust with food or smth
@PlayMoreeYT3 жыл бұрын
Lmfao, they're fine
@aaliyahcorrigan18313 жыл бұрын
@@lupinchenbrause9017 hey, I just want to say that their farm is completely fine and I thought id clear up a few things you pointed out. they weren't chasing them if you look back they were more walking around. the loud noises, they do live on a farm so I'm 100% sure their fine also since their suck big animals I don't think it scares them. you said they used a taser but it's actually called a cattle prod. A cattle prod being used on such a big animal would have no real affect, it more just annoys them than hurt them so they'll walk away. there actually isn't a better way really because bison are really nothing like cows. they are wild animals and they have to be treated as so. and by that I mean you cant really trust them as much as a tame cow because there is really no way to tame bison they only will get used to you, but some animals will never tolerate you going near them. they are a lot harder to handle and much bigger and stronger.

Intense is an understatement when a you got a beast like Big Joe in the shute. I have worked bison before with a neighbor and even the most gentle giant can turn bullheaded instantly.
