One of the hardest to figure out when I was in an 80s cover band, in the 80s we didn't have KZbin! Thanks!! I was missing a couple things. Great job

Thank you for this. So much easier, faster, and cheaper than purchasing sheet music

You're welcome. And the sheet music would probably only be a piano/vocal version, not what the keyboard player would play in a band.

This tutorial is outstanding! During the 2nd verse, the left hand should be playing a synth pad:: B (2nd inversion), G, B (2nd inv), G#m, E (1st inv). However this will require that you play the "parallel 3rds" with just your right hand which is a bit trickier.

Amazing! I knew there was a happy feeling element in this song! And this is it! Id wager to say that Ed Van Halen was inspired by this, if he heard it. Best happy keyboard in history, in my opinion, and you NAILED it ! Great job thank you’ 🙏 ❤

Just started in a cover band as rhythm guitar/keyboard/backup vocals. This is awesome. Keep 'em coming. If you're taking requests, I'd like the interlude part of Still of the Night.

I've watched a few different vids of this tune.. your over/under fingering makes way more sense. I wish KZbin had a 1/2 speed function though to really see and hear it slower. The Blinky Lights help.. hah :)

I like your 3-view and 2-section (tutorial/play-thru) approach. Many of us may not have the most high-end keyboard to play on, so it's helpful when you share and let us know what keyboard sounds and setttngs you're using that closely match the keyboard sound in the song. I look forward to more tutorials and transcriptions from you. Do you take tutorial requests? . . . perhaps the following . . . "Jump" by Van Halen, "Perfect Strangers" by Deep Purple, "Little By Little" by Robert Plant, and "On The Loose" by Saga?

Hey Dan, I really appreciate your feedback, and those are all definitely things I could incorporate into my tutorials. I am currently in process of launching an online keyboardist community where we can all share knowledge, get questions answered, and where I could take requests like the great ones you gave here. I see that you sent me a message through my website so I'll follow up with you there as I'd really like your input on how we can provide quality resources for working or aspiring keyboardists. Thanks again for the comment and question!

Hey Mike, very useful for my next rehearsal with my cover band! For me it's the best song from Loverboy. I love it, but I've never tried back in the last 40 years to play it on a keyboard. Now I do!

Is anyone willing to break down the more challenging 2nd part of the arpeggiated chorus? I've tried on 50% playback speed & still can't understand what's happening. I love the sound, and would love to replicate it, rather than doing my own thing. Thank you so much for creating this video, Mike!

Overall good tutorial, but would it have killed you to show the two separate hand parts on the actual most difficult part of the song, which is the second part of the chorus? You showed separate hands on the first easier part... but then when you got to the second part you just kind of glossed over it and said there's lots of hands-overlapping stuff.
@mikebardenpiano2 жыл бұрын
Good thought, thanks for bringing that up!
@erictriplett332 жыл бұрын
@@mikebardenpiano Thanks for the tutorial, and sorry about that last comment being kind of rude. This was a helpful tutorial and I appreciate it. But I am having a touch of trouble exactly figuring out what's going on with each hand arpeggio on the latter half of the chorus when it goes higher.
@mikebardenpiano2 жыл бұрын
@@erictriplett33 I agree that would be a better way to demonstrate the part and I hope to update this video with that information. But do you by chance read piano sheet music? I have a transcription of the whole part you can download for free, and the link for that is in the video description.
@gregcashner5272 жыл бұрын
It’s too hard to learn following little colored keys in a video. Sheet music or tabs would be much easier
