Do you all prefer working from home? or would rather get back to the office?

I think a good idea for a video could be currently what a day in the life of your job is right now. IE do you wake up and open up a trial balance and get filling it up or something. It's just that I'm curious about what your current day to day tasks are, as you haven't updated us in a while.

I prefer someone hire me😅. But how I look at it is when I start working I'd want it to be in the office. But I guess as I get more settled in I wouldn't mind working from home.

I think offices are a waste of time and resources for my profession (Big 4 tax associate) - time spent communitng, air pollution, traffic, laundry, etc. I'd like to go in maybe once a week with the other days being optional.

Big fan of your channel mate! And personally, I get more from the careers focused content like this and the stuff about big 4 exit opps.

Agree with all that. Read somewhere that FOMO will bring people back to the office. I think 2-3 days a week makes sense for me and part of that is probably a bit of fomo. Also remember reading if someone in 5 days a week, they may get ahead and network to get promoted quicker whilst the competition is at home with no real idea what’s going on - you can’t make the boss a coffee from home lol. But you’re right it all depends on your circumstances.

Also the opportunity cost of commuting / child care / dog sitting vs benefit of being in an office feels like a massive thing now. The cut in net income to go into the office never bothered me before the pandemic - staying at home could save some £££ unless they don’t progress as fast at home… as think a lot of guys have struggled with at home procrastinating/motivation too due to no competition at home/can’t see others working/too many distractions

What an absolute legend. I really appreciate that I also don't like silly office politics nonsense. Some people truly work for their life!

I think I’d like a hybrid working model, also have young children & it is lovely seeing them more. Problem is, whenever I’ve been to the office, barely anyone has been there & I’ve ended up on Teams calls anyway, so often end up coming back home! For hybrid working to work, I’d prefer a company to entice people in on the same days. I miss seeing people & get that isolating feeling. Also, it can be hard to gear yourself up for the day! What do others do to combat that?

Lots of employees get you in the office for the sake of it. Of course, as a new starter, the office is very helpful. But managers should trust their team enough to let them wfh when they feel it’s ok to do so.

Thanks Paul I enjoyed that.I am hoping to be an accountant one day I am studying from home hoping to complete the aat level 2 this month.I have a quick question if you don't mind I have spent most of my working life driving forklifts ( warehouse work ) etc...So I do not have any office experience at the age of 38..So how realistic is it for me to get a job ( accounts assistant or bookkeeper ) after completing my level 2 or 3 for example? Giving my age and lack of experience.

I think highly likely - i would look towards peoples attitude and work ethic as an employer - give it a couple years and you will understand most of what you need to be an accountant practically.
