Tomo; I love listening to this and other jam sessions so much. I really wish you would record these in higher quality - the music deserves it! And for the record, the Sunny jam sessions are probably my favorite. Such a great chord progression.

yeah gloss necks are something gibson should get away from TBH, get with the times, guitarists now have different requirements and quick playing necks are a MAJOR one

His technique is beautiful, if i may ask, is he just going through his phrasings/scales? What are the besr ways to practice for jazz improv? I find im often limited by my lack of adequate music theory knowledge

Ask him! A lot of dedication and passion, endless of efforts! Listening, learning (tunes) jazz music. Transcribing music, analyzing... there is not one best way but you can study with someone already knows good directions.

Don't worry about "music theory" Part. Theory wont make you a better player. Theory makes you to understand music which you are learning (better)

i wish i could play like this. i’ve been self taught for almost 3 years (with the exception of a couple of free lesions off youtube) and i want to expand into mainly blues, jazz and classic rock playing but im no good.

Major scale, melodic minor, harmonic minor, penta tonics (Maj & min) and chromatic scales... if you don't know the chords... nothing will work!

Preparation. Learn chords, triads, 7th chords... arpeggios..then transcribe a lot solos so you will learn from great examples. Try Charlie Christian ROSE ROOM. Learn R 3 7 swing groove, Bb Blues, Bb Jazz Blues.

There's no way to approximate that... it really depends on how you approach the instrument and how much do you enjoy the learning process behind music theory and practice !!! If you care about "how long" is it going to take I don't think this is for you tho.... U need a different mindset, enjoy the journey my friend :)

0:43 it's melodic minor from whole step below dominant chords works over any resolving dominant 0:59 is also melodic minor but this time a half step above dominant chords its also works over any resolving dominant what i mean by resolving is functioning dominant btw its called tension and resolution good luck
