As a 65 year old retired welder/fabricator, I strongly urge you to ALWAYS cover bare skin! Even when it's hot and wearing sleeves sucks. Because when you get to my age, you DON'T want the increased chances for skin cancer, and the liver spots, wrinkles, moles and other assorted deformities that come from UV exposure. I have a vee on my chest from all the years of open shirt welding that will never go away, and my doctors tell me I already have abnormalities from the damage. I know, I know. I sound like a safety karen. But trust me bro. Better safe than sorry! Skin cancer is DEADLY and it can cause some really bad stuff to happen to your body. Ask ANY old welder still alive and they will tell you the same thing. COVER UP WHEN WELDING! It is NOT like a normal day in the sun!

I had done some practice welding yesterday, since it had been over a decade since I had really done any. Put it this way, I'm so rusty, that if I were a vehicle, it would look like it had spent its whole life in a salt pit. Trying to talk my wife into allowing me to get the new Lincoln 180i Sprinter TIG/Stick welder. Since I could use a stick welder and I need to brush up on my TIG welding skills since I hadn't used those since 2012 when I was in trade school for welding. It is also nice to see more wearing filtered masks while welding. Even though it is mostly mild steel, there is still some harsh things we could end up breathing in while welding. Now this is more important when doing stainless steel and galvanized, but you should never put your health at risk.
@daner.d4 ай бұрын
you must like doing a lot of extra work, throw a coat of primer on it while it all apart cause your going to leave it out side then it will rust and you'll have to wire wheel it all over again, at least if you have to weld just clean that spot and when you go to paint just a quick wipe and your good. it's better than having to do stuff twice or three times even. move rear brake to the back of bracket

I like your research and development at the end this video. a real simple but effective way to test the suspension. you go about working on your projects a little differently than I do. you like to take breaks from the main project and go back and work on previous projects. that's okay but it's different for me. if I went back to work on previous projects? I might not ever return to the main project? which makes it so I have to stay on the main project until it's finished. I guess that comes from working on other people's cars. When I work on a customers car I have finish it as quickly as possible. so they can have their car back. you always have to keep the customer happy. I guess if they were my projects I could take breaks from them? so I wouldn't have the monotony of working on the same project for a long time. so I can see your point of view. keep Up the great work.

A well tuned stinger length gives exhaust gas velocity and works in conjunction with the expansion chamber, the stinger on your exhaust is likely going to cause the engine to be doughy. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! Run it and see how it feels, at least you'll know where to look if it's running poorly.
@jerrywilcox98904 ай бұрын
Thats the stock pipe lol
@jerrywilcox98904 ай бұрын
It will run just fine.that engine has been in other projects and ran just fine.
@krazed04514 ай бұрын
@@jerrywilcox9890 Mate, that's the stock expansion chamber perhaps, but it's most certainly not the stock stinger. I suggest you do some reading on 2 stroke pipe tuning in relation to stinger length... The stinger is the pipe after the expansion chamber, before the silencer. The silencer in question is most certainly aftermarket.
@musicauthority6744 ай бұрын
The reason for the stringer in the first place, is to cause a slight amount of back pressure in the exhaust system. a slight amount of back pressure is necessary for low end torque. that's the same on all exhaust systems. but with two stroke engines. the length of the stringer is dependent on various factors. such as engine size and how that particular engine is being used. a person would think the more free flowing the exhaust systems is the better.? and it is at high RPMs. but that's not the case at low RPMs. the more free flowing the exhaust systems is. the less low end torque the engine will have. and two stroke engines have a power band. and the length of the stinger determins where the power band is in relation to engine RPMs. if there isn't enough low end torque the engine won't have enough low end grunt? or in other words enough torque at low RPMs. not enough back pressure will result in not enough low end grunt. which is in the RPM range idle to around 1500 RPMs. making the vehicle not pull very good in this RPM range. I worked in a muffler shop. and did an experiment on a 1985 Ford Bronco II that I have. I put a three inch exhaust system on it. and found out it doesn't have enough low end torque. meaning it doesn't pull as good as should right off the line. which means I can't take off from a standing stop without giving it some gas. it will stall when ingauging the clutch at idle. which means I have to use the throttle more than I used to to take off from a standing stop.
@krazed04514 ай бұрын
@@musicauthority674 Exactly, they are a tuned length, a stinger as long as the one on this cart will likely result in a very flat power delivery and negate some/most of the advantages of the tuned expansion chamber. A 2 stroke exhaust is a lot like a musical instrument, if it's not tuned correctly it won't let the engine sing :-)

I think it's gonna be totally awesome when you get it done but I'd change the steering to adjustable steering..take the 2 bars that are coming down at a V and put them in front of the steering shaft and make the front other bar pivot and lock wherever you want it for getting in & out easy also putting the steering down more for more comfortable driving

Imagine knowing as much as you do, but doing nothing with it? You have zero videos but you are giving advice to Chris about how he should run his channel. Oof.
@musicauthority6744 ай бұрын
I believe the videos of him operating the projects are necessary. since the idea of building the projects is to see how they perform. in the end I would think that his viewers like to see how the builds perform. after all it wouldn't be right for him to build a project. and not show how it performs and just park it after it's finished. it's his and our reward for all the hard work he puts into his projects. it would be like listening to music in stereo and only receiving one channel of sound. as for the length of the videos. I don't think any content provider can determine how long or short their videos are going to be. a lot of factors are in play that would determine that. myself the maximum length of a video is about one hour before my attention span runs out.
@itarry44 ай бұрын
@@musicauthority674 I've no issues with him showing himself driving the vehicles he makes, it was the length of the video especially compared with some of his building videos like this one which are occasionally really short. As I said in my comment the channel was built on watching him work on and build the vehicles not on watching him drive them and I just think 1hr 30 mins was overly long to watch him drive around especially when followed by a video 15 mins long of the actual subject that nearly every subscriber, if not all of them have subbed to see, him work on and build the vehicles.
@musicauthority6744 ай бұрын
@@itarry4 I addressed in my reply that a content provider really can't determine how long a video is going to be. there are a lot of factors involved with the length of a video. logically a person can't say that all their build videos would be longer than the driving videos. he has had driving videos that were short also. he could edit his videos for time. but I think he makes his videos. with the thought that he wants his viewers to see as much of the content as possible. wether it's good, bad, or otherwise. and if they don't care for it it's their choice to continue watching or not. because there are some viewers may want to watch a certain piece of footage. that another person may not. and this is hypothetically speaking, one person might enjoy watching a wheel fall off a build. whereas another viewer might not. but it's not right to deprive one viewer of that and not another viewer. that's just my opinion.

I few things that might help the appearance of the build are if you tilted the radiators back alittle instead of them standing perfectly straight up and down. Another thing if you cut the expansion pipe around 8” from the head you could rotate the pipe and not have the exhaust so high and be the main center of attention. Really cool project though your the man. Also if you sprayed your projects with weld through primer you wouldn’t have so much surface rust and constantly have to clean them up and it allows you to make changes and paint and when done without have to spend hours wire wheeling. Just some food for thought.

He builds it, drives it to its breaking points, fixes, tests it more, make modifications if needed, tests, and then cleans it up and paints. It ends up saving him more time, since you really need to clean off the paint several inches back from the welded areas, to 1 prevent contamination of the weld and 2 and probably the most important thing, prevent having to breathe in burning paint fumes. Yeah he is wearing a filtered mask, but rather be safe than sorry.
