April is here and that means salmon season. Max and Ed talk about the opening day on Lake Winnipesaukee. Another topic is the abundance of coyotes and a horrifying experience an acquaintance of Ed's went through involving coyotes and her dog. By the way, do you say "Kai-Yo-Tee" or "Kai-Oat"? Let us know in the comments.
Ed also explains how modern tree stands came out about, and Max shows his new Spyderco Tenacious, which forces him to admit something about the Spyderco that Ed gave him a few years back.
Finally, Ed and Max talk about literature, because that's the woodsman's way. Thanks for listening.

Great podcast, I'm old enough to have participated many times in smelt dipping great fun but if they were running strong it would not last long to be able to fill a couple of 5 gallon buckets, that was my limit because that's all I could carry up the steep bank where they ran. Other then that you both touched on a variety of good topics. I enjoy trying to out smart Coyotes my most successful method is snaring. Take care Max and Ed.

black bears are no joke, have family that live in NJ and you cant let your kids play in back yard with out supervision in some places bud lake and west millford NJ ware the young man was killed . you do not take your trash out at night or you will have a mess to pick up. i have been to visit and sat on deck of my brothers and had a bear that came up to me that was about 10 feet away , he cant let his dog out with out looking over yard , they come up on his deck and have broken into his garage to get his trash you see them any time of day and there is big debate over hunting them. it seems to me that they dont have the fear of man ,you can yell and they just look at you and walk off. thanks for your pod cast and all your work look forward to the next one.

Roy Stalter For sure. I have some black bears that occasionally wander through my yard as well. They generally stick to the woods luckily though.

Yeah it's just a matter of time before there is another fatality. Unfortunately the people making the decision of whether or not we can hunt them to control a population generally don't live anywhere near black bears.
