Reading over some of the comments it is obvious some people are jealous because they will never be able to run a 5 minute mile. I am sure the ones commenting on their form run much faster.
@rebekahadrian4875 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Actually, Bri Oakley has run at least a 9:51 2-mile (faster pace on longer) and she was sick that day. Bethan Knights has run at least a 4:19 1500m (equivalent to 4:42 mile).
@soysauce65345 жыл бұрын

You girls are doing great. i was running 4.50 pace in college for 5 times the mile but never hit them as equal as you guys were hitting them. I think we ranged from 4.50 to 5.05 and I think that proves that your coach is looking to keep your laps consistent to train your body to run even splits rather than reacting to the gun and going out fast. That was always a problem for me and other runners even the great prefontaine was always goiing out too fast..

Im a runner myself and as well need to work on my form, but in my personal opinion they might need to work on form and a little bit of posture. I love watching how hard they work and I hope someone who sees thinks this doesn’t think im trying to be negative! Just hope they can fix their arms from flinging just a bit. They did great in total!!
@jeffbrooks85565 жыл бұрын
S. Marie Have you ever watched the Kenyan, Ethiopian, Moroccan runners? When I began training with them and watching the times they dropped, my focus on form quickly faded. Although form could always improve, there is a bit of natural motion that can’t be corrected.

Fastest I ever ran a mile was 5:15. Fastest I ever ran 3 miles was just under 16min....and it killed me. Long distance runners are insane. Its genuinely amazing how their bodies process air and energy. Mile repeats at that time after all the other running....most humans wouldn't physically be able to do it.
@marshal11ify4 жыл бұрын
It's all about muscle mass. XC runners are extremely lean. No oxygen is wasted from lungs to legs and pace is optimized for endurance. Good stuff here

I signed up (in college) for what I thought was gonna be a phys ed class with a bunch of drill team girls in it. Aerobics. Doesnt that sound like something Suzanne Sommers teaches? Girls in tights kinda class. (look up Kilgore Rangerettes) Those girls. When I got my schedule, under classroom it said "in front of handball courts" Weird but okay. When the instructor stepped up, HE was wearing running shorts and shoes..... I'm like, wtf? He says "to get an A in the class you have to run 5 miles within.... (I cant remember the time) DAMN, it was long distance AEROBIC TRAINING. Everyone in there ran track in high school. Your 3 in 16 seems good to me. Really good. Before the semester was over a large group of us could do the time, so to make it more challenging, we all went to The Back Porch and had cheeseburgers before the test. :)

Good coaching at 3:20. I always think a good coach is someone who can read their runners and adjust the practice according to how they feel. Having those girls go out and run a terrible mile when they feel like crap does them no good. Breaking it down into two 800s will get the most out of them.

I used to run in high school - not this torturous, but pretty hard. Now I am 60+ years old with health issues and more limited movement. I often think of that time when I felt so light and free when I ran, with the sensation of almost flying. That period of time is oh so brief in life and hopefully these girls can enjoy that feeling as much as they are focused on time goals. :-)
