From my experience the most dangerous person is the boss, as most other people are quite easy to deal with. As I was permanently injured on the job and have no clue how I am going to go on much longer. As Social Security does not help those that really need help, and workmans comp only pays for a very limited short time even for permanent disability.

A company may not want to intervene with ones personal life, but the Bell and Whistle are for sure are going off. Mark is gone, Mark need to be on Clozapine, and get some help. Between handling a job, and a nasty divorce. He's over top. I understand the HR manager is look out for the welfare of the employees and company, but one needs to be human and ask. Is everything alright with you, What's wrong Mark.

Clearly this HR Director did not read the one minute manager. It teaches you to address the situation, apply verbal discipline, and end with positive reinforcement, offering the ability to seek help within the organization, and attempt to find out what lies beneath his aggressive behavior. Mark needed someone in his corner, and she could have been that person.

Although Mark is going through a divorce, it doesn't give him a reason to threaten his colleagues in the workplace. The manager or the personnel director checked on the female victim effected by his conduct. The manager or the personnel director stated to Mark that his aggressive behavior is totally unacceptable and will be not tolerated in the workplace. She also spoke to him about his poor performance and told him point blank if management did not see any improvement that his employment would be terminated.

I think the one thing that can be established here is that the office manager is a complete incompetent. Not only were there early warning signs that she was aware of, but rather than defuse the situation, she chose confrontation with the employee. Utter and inexcusable incompetence. The escalation is entirely her fault and hers alone.

When you do on the job that you enjoy, you are more productive and content on the job. I am starting out doing this part time. If I like well enough, I may want to pursue my teaching certificate.

No, the point is that HR shoulda done something sooner. If they would have talked to him after the FIRST violent offence it never would have escalated to this point. The lady says his behavior is "not acceptable" but she has been accepting it for a while now, she even said she has been getting complaint after complaint. She should have stepped in earlier. Perhaps made him take some time off to cool down, or maybe work from home. SOMETHING. Something other than slapping him on the wrist for his poor PERFORMANCE, thats the thing, she technically didnt even punish him for the violence... only the poor performance.
