Having found you guys today and binging through all the restoration vids you have so far, I love that you're trying to keep history alive. The Tiger 1 restoration truly was a journey for all parties involved and I can't wait to see how the Jagdpanther, StuG 3, and now this guy, turns out. Everyone working on them seems to have immense passion for what they're trying to do and I wish I could go to Australia to really appreciate your work. Keep it up, gents.

I really admire your attitude of just getting on with turning bits of rust back into a vehicle that can be appreciated for what it was, rather than spending endless decades dithering over exactly which unrecognizable piece of rust is most historically appropriate for a true appreciation of the vehicle as it was.

I know that this is late in coming, But, I'd like to Say "Thank You" to Al & John and All of the Volunteers at your museum. I have seen that Pres. Ronald Reagan once Said "Most people looking back at their Life will ask "Did I Make a Difference, But a Veteran doesn't have to ask that because they Know that they Have!" Your Volunteers only have to look around in the shop and the Museum to Know that They All Have Made a Difference to the World!

fun things to do with an electric Goliath (or a copy): use it as a self-propelled starter battery, use it in the museum as an electric wheelchair, or borrow some parts from a robotic lawnmower or floorsweeper to use around the shop. you could also add a big toolbox and make it into an off-road 'technical assistance vehicle' on your tanktrack..

The operating life of a Goliath would probably remove the requirement to adjust track tension - it was a self-propelled mine after all. The Germans also converted a large number of captured universal carriers from Dunkirk into the same service.

Fascinating how cheaply they made the Goliath... but then again... it was a disposable item. So to speak. If anything, i'm kinda surprised more corners weren't cut. Perhaps some of the components were from other assemblies, thus why some parts seem more complex than others.

Late to the party but I was just thinking about the "track tensioning idler wheel" being welded to the hull ... It makes sense to me, the Goliath was a single-use item, once the tracks were tensioned there was no need for them to ever be re-tensioned because, once used, they'd be spread half-way across Europe!

Goliath's were designed to be one time use vehicles you can ask any welder that if he needs to make a one time use jig will he measure drill and then bolt it together or will he just quickly weld it these were meant to be cheap as possible and plans change from the original drawings so don't expect it to be exactly like the plans.
