Milwaukee M18 FUEL 6-1/2" Circular Saw 2833-20 - acmetools.pxf.io/3eg40v
---------------------------------------------------
Can the Milwaukee M18 FUEL Live Up to the Hype? A Deep Dive into Speed Claims
Milwaukee's M18 FUEL 6-1/2" Circular Saw (model 2833-20) boasts impressive features, including a brushless motor and a cut speed touted as "class-leading." But with so many circular saws on the market, is the M18 FUEL truly the fastest? We decided to investigate.
M18 FUEL's Speed Credentials: What They Say
Milwaukee claims the 2833-20 delivers up to 40% faster cut speeds than competitors. That's a bold statement, and if true, it would be a game-changer for professionals seeking efficiency. The saw's 6,000 RPM motor certainly sounds promising. But is there independent testing to back up these claims?
Digging Deeper: Independent Verification and Real-World Use
While Milwaukee might not explicitly advertise third-party testing, user reviews and comparisons can be a treasure trove of real-world experiences. Here's what we found:
Many users report the M18 FUEL being noticeably faster than their previous saws.
Reviewers highlight the powerful motor's ability to maintain speed under load, crucial for tackling tough cuts.
However, some reviewers suggest that the "40% faster" claim might be a bit ambitious. It's important to remember that cut speed can be influenced by factors like blade quality, material type, and user technique.
The Skeptic's Viewpoint: More Than Just Speed
While speed is a desirable quality, it shouldn't be the sole deciding factor. Here are some other aspects to consider:
Accuracy and Control: A super-fast saw is useless if it's difficult to handle precisely. Reviews for the M18 FUEL generally praise its ergonomic design and ease of use.
Battery Life: The M18 FUEL is cordless, powered by Milwaukee's M18 battery system (sold separately). Battery life will vary depending on usage, but Milwaukee claims up to 300 cuts on a single charge with a high-output battery. Be sure to factor in charging times if battery life is a concern.
Overall System Compatibility: If you're already invested in the Milwaukee M18 battery platform, the 2833-20 integrates seamlessly. However, if you're brand agnostic, there might be other cordless or corded circular saws with features that suit you better.
The Verdict: Speed Demon or Marketing Marvel?
There's no doubt the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 6-1/2" Circular Saw is a powerful and fast contender. User reviews largely support Milwaukee's claims of impressive cutting speed. However, independent verification and consideration of other factors like battery life and ergonomics are important before crowning it the absolute fastest.
Ultimately, the best circular saw depends on your specific needs and priorities. If you prioritize speed and are already a Milwaukee M18 user, the 2833-20 is definitely worth a closer look. But for a more well-rounded decision, consider including competitor reviews and testing results in your research.

I just got mine yesterday when they finally got them in stock. Was waiting for this particular updated 6.5” and I’m glad I did. Really smooth saw. Balance is great with a 6.0 forge or a 8.0 high output. It’s so fast you really don’t even feel the cut happen. Rpm’s dip just a bit but it’s really fast and smooth. No noticeable vibrations at all. Now I’m going to get started on my summer decking project and put it through the paces.

I dont run any of my M18 tools without a high output battery anymore. High outputs crush the older 18650 batteries. I dont feel the Forge 6.0 is worth it unless you really care about 25 minute charge times.

It is. I remember way back when we first tried the DEWALT 60-volt rear handle saw and thought that it is so much MORE and anything else out there. I get that same feeling from this saw. Where has this been the last 5 years. :)

I've been asking this for years. Why will none of them make a saw in this style, blade left, that's 7 1/4. They're all blade right or rear handle lefts.

The Milwaukee is probably faster but Milwaukee is running their tools balls to the wall. Makita doesnt do that. XGT will run cooler, handle heavy loads at a steady pace

I think 6,000RPM is the highest speed circular saw out there, both in corded and cordless versions. Although, I'm not sure why all these tool makers keep making these smaller sized saws, why not just stick with the regular 7-1/4"? What is the point of the smaller saws because you become even more limited in what you can cut through.
@gnsavage1

My Hikoki (Metabo HPT) 6.5" has a cut capacity of 66mm at 90°. Both the Milwaukee rear handle and sidewinder 7.25" have a cut capacity of 63.5mm. I'm in Australia so sorry about the metric but as you can see it has a greater cut capacity. Why carry a larger saw than you need to.
@N1rOx
@N1rOx 8 күн бұрын
Maybe for a 165mm saw, but not overall. Cordless 36v (40v max) Makita rear handle saw sits at 6400rpm no load. No load RPM doesn't tell the full story and shouldn't be used to pre-determine how fast a saw can actually cut.

The 8.0 battery cells have significantly less amp out put then the 6.0 battery, why not test with the Forge? It would be lighter and perform better with at least 20-30% more power.
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 18 күн бұрын
I could have went through each battery, but as I explained in the video the Fordge 6 Ah felt similar to the 8 and when I increased, I could not see a huge bump in performance. I could however feel the difference between the 5Ah and the 8Ah and in our testing, those two were the closest. So you are right, when you put a larger battery, or more high output battery on than the 8, you will see better performance. Would you notice it in my video, no. I chose the two batteries that from our testing seem to be the line where performance increases are most noticeable.

@@WorkshopAddict The 5.0 has so little amp output in comparison to other available options that I refuse to even use them. Especially in a high draw tool like a saw. I guess having so much power that jumping up to a 6.0 High Output or a Forge barely being noticeable is good, they are supposedly more powerful with the Forge, then even the 6.0 High Output. The 6” grinder is around 15% watts output on a dyno kind of more powerful.
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 18 күн бұрын
@renurenovationsllc7780 I might not be explaining this well. I rank the 8 Ah battery as the next step up in power over the 5Ah. The 6 amp hour batteries all push more amps. In this test, there is a big difference from the 5 to the 8 and it was easy to show it. I could have done the same with 6Ah batteries, but people would question how the 8 did. So by doing what I did, shows people in the know that you need to move up over the 5, and it does not matter what you use over the 5 as they all feel pretty much that same.

All Milwaukee did was take the 71/4 circular saw motor and put it on a 61/2:saw
@renurenovationsllc7780
@renurenovationsllc7780 18 күн бұрын
@@loucifer4205 That motor is huge, and heavy, there is no way they could have reduced the weight while doing that. If that was the case it would be SUPER powerful, because with the smaller blade there would be more leverage and so more torque.

Great channel…..definitely not better than dewalts . You can not push Milwaukee cordless tools like you can dewalts . As a builder, it’s no different now than 10 years ago. Dewalt and Flexvolt are tops with builders. Makita is second, then Milwaukee.
