All Pakistanis who are educated and fair minded need to read the book "The magnificent delusions" by Hussain Haqqani. IT tells the tell of a nation which went from being a free state ostensibly for the muslims of the subcontinent to a "security state" prostituting itself to the best bidder (mostly to the USA) to achieve that elusive parity with India and thereby becoming a "renter state". The magnificent delusion of the Pakistani elite (as well as most Pakistanis who grew up under an indoctrinated educational system) is that such a parity with India would somehow make Pakistan safer. Despite being a nuclear state, it continues with the same paradigm and is now fighting an insurgency within its borders, an insurgency created out of wrong policies of "bleeding India" using proxy war through terrorists trained in Pakistan and sent to Indian Kashmir.

this is really insightful. have you seen homeland the tv show? there's a large part of the 5th season dedicated to Pakistani college student's relationship with Hussain Haqqani and eventually haqqani leads an armed cell to infiltrate the US embassy in Karachi and kill a bunch of people before he escapes with documents of all of the American involvement in the country . Haqqani is portrayed as being sheltered and protected by the ISI of Pakistan. this seems so different from what you are describing in his book that I need to learn more about this.

Pakistanis creating an "ossified sense of guilt" in Americans who come to believe they owe it to the former is something Pakistanis started doing right from Pakistan's inception in 1947. Hussain Haqqani writes in detail in his book "The magnificent delusions" how Pakistanis would be telling the Americans that Pakistan is their bulwark against the Soviet Union and they need to help Pakistan with money and weapons to resist the Russian Red Army while all the while siphoning off the money and weapon to fight against India.

Sridhar Kaushik, All through the Cold War, that may have been true, but since the demise of the Soviet Union, Pakistan no longer has any conceivable rationale for America’s continued support unless the machination of the old Military-Industrial Complex to keep the facade intact to give cover to the indirect subsidy. However cynical this hypothesis that I put forward, in the final analysis India must act, I repeat India must act in what’s in her own best interest. Does U.S. consult another in matters survival, or when it’s threatened? No, nor shall India after all India has suffered a multiple wars of aggression at he hands of Pakistan. It should act with great fanfare and put an end to this misbegotten bastardly existance once and for all - the biggest source of terrorism in the region. Captain Kurtz awaits to be done away with by Mr. Marlow, in Joseph Conrad’s novel, the Heart of Darkness. " The horror, The horror..."

Hindus will never tolerate their religious leaders (for eg Shankaracharyas) to tell them how to conduct themselves. These pontiffs are pious people who give advice from time to time but there are not fatwas, no indoctrinations forced on hindus. That will not be tolerated. Also, RSS cannot force its ideology on BJP as that will mean the votes will dry out. Middle class did not vote Modi as PM because he was a hindu. It did so because Modi promised economic reforms and increased growth.

Wow an anti USA rant...India does not have to learn secularism from US, UK or even RSS, we Indians/Hindus have been secular and tolerant towards other religions even before USA came into being. However you cannot make sweeping statements about all the Americans, most of them are reasonable. You are not helping RSS at all. Secularism is an ideal we can all aspire to have even if no one else in the world is secular. I do not love or hate RSS but I voted for BJP. If RSS has a vision and ideology about running this country they should come into politics rather than claiming BJP as its proxy, which it is not ( I hope).

The study on Islamic deprivation in India is motivated and misleading. India has a vested interest in not addressing poverty and deprivation as such but fostering it on one hand and by slicing and dicing it by religion, caste, tribe and other socio-metric groupings of political convenience on the other hand, in order to build vote-banks at the cost of the disenfranchised (the plight of the impoverished and abject Brahmin minority who are ignored as "upper" class "Hindus" is notable. Particularly as "Hindu" is NOT a religion. It is an agglomeration of religions including Brahmanism. The West and Western Oriented Indians have swallowed this story of "caste" in lieu of religion and the mirage of a "Hindu" monolithic "majority") to perpetuate the Politician-Bureaucrat-Police-Judiciary-Crony Kleptocracy who have taken over even the temples of various Congregations of different religions and denominations to loot and plunder with impunity. Mostly, Non-Hindus such as Dalits are appointed as Administrators and priests and the temple revenue deployed for Moslem (including defraying Haj pilgrimage expenses) or Christian welfare. Christians and Moslems, unlike "Hindus" are given Constitutional exemption and so, free of taxes and intrusive legislation and executive control, have grown over the last Sixty Eight Years into the largest and second largest tax free land lords and income earners.

Mr. Alyer, I shall await a book length treatment of a thesis statement you have given to whet our appetite. Or, God forbid you are trolling by poking into the hornet’s nest of the Hindu orthodoxy? Or could it be you are a disgruntled Congress party apratchic only accusing the the party in power the BJP of the age old very practices of the Congress party? I wish you own up to any or all. Such cynicisms!

@Asif-mz4pv
@Asif-mz4pv 7 жыл бұрын
Mr. Alyer, You ask that your comment be considered outside the prism of my (your) “politico religious prejudices, proclivities and predicaments.” But your comment is anything but the very things you ask under which it must not be judged, Don’t you think that’s the quandary and the irony? I have read and reread, 1. "The study on Islamic deprivation in India is motivated and misleading.” 2. “India has a vested interest in not addressing poverty and deprivation as such but fostering it on one hand and by slicing and dicing it by religion, caste, tribe and other socio=metric groupings of political convenience on the other hand, in order to build vote banks at the cost of disenfranchised... The 1) and 2) mentioned above is your own very first two sentences taken as is from the text and you ask to go outside the very prism that you have literally defined. And it’s alright for you to stay inside the prism of your politico religious prejudices, blah blah blah, but not alright for anyone else or would be readers? Come, come now Sir. is it even humanly possible to escape our purview or point of view that can only be aided by one’s life experiences; education; extent, vastness or depth of one’s reading; one’s political standing upon the spectrum from the left to the right; age, etc. etc. Mr. Alyer, initially I took your comment to be an invitation even a provocation that invited discussion. Alas, to my dismay my initial impression did not pan out: Yours was in the tradition of a monologue. a statement of an “objective” fact, sort of “There, I have said it - the case is now closed.” So, it appears I’m dumb founded, that I thought it was an invitation for a dialogue, so together we’ll develop a deeper understanding of the issues thus outlined by you. The dialogue delivered by Jack Nicholson in the movie “A Few Good Men” now comes flying in to my mind, and I assure you unbidden, “Don’t I feel like the fuc**** ass hole."

My comment is about a study that springs from the prejudices you represent as becomes evident from this exchange despite you attempt to portray a non existent objectivity. Taqiya?
@Asif-mz4pv
@Asif-mz4pv 7 жыл бұрын
Mr. Alyer, From whatever source did you ascertain “the prejudices I represent”? For the life of me my exchanges with you thus far have only been limited to on the semantics of prisms, seeking clarifications on my part and no more; and you assert: Whatever! That I never represented nor articulated what has miraculously been made evident to you from an exchange that never took place, and what objectivity or subjectivity discovered therein where there’s none, where I have not expounded upon anything. Pray tell? Taqiya, what ever in the God’s name that is? I don’t recognize it. No, Sir, I’m not religious and please don't confuse me with muslim Jahiliya, I believe in a personal God, my own, period. Please don’t complicate things. Re-read all that I have said, in address to you, has been to affect seeking clarifications only on your text and no more. I made no assertions of any kind. You have assumed much, perhaps based upon other commentators else where upon this discussion that you are projecting upon this writer. If that is the case then do say so. Should an opportunity arise nothing would bring me more pleasure and I shall not hesitate or shy away from disclosing my true liberal sentiments in the Burkean sense cum conservative philosophy for your pleasure. Sir, when you are going to throw things out there expect to meet challenges and subsequent dialogues that sure to ensue or in your parlance, springs from. However, I enjoyed our little exchange entirely one over seeking clarification that remains opaque.

There is an academic pressure to portray balance and objectiviity as essential to gravitas. This same pressure leads to positing that Pakistan and India are "siblings" that must be treated "equally" or that Islamic extremists are comparable with "Hindutva". Nothing could be farther from the truth as, all truth inconvenient to the portrayal an "objective and balanced" stance is removed and the egregious crimes of Pakistan and Islam made to disappear: This enterprise is prospered by the judicious application of Petro Dollars. The US has been a staunch ally of Islam and a supporter of terrorism word-wide for generations now. Obama is just the inevitable result of the White Hice momentum that built after Kennedy with occasional remissions.US Strategy, particularly since the days of Bush Senior has been driven by decision and opinion makers on Petro Dollar pay rolls which has always defeated US tactics and Operations designed to appease the US vote fodder. It is the false sense of security that one is lulled into through fond memories and hubris that leaves one open to tragedy both creeping and sudden. Like the Jews of Nazi Germany or the Brahmins of India or what awaits the ordinary citizens of the "free world" who make excuses for Islam as if Islam is an under fed family dog that requires nothing but understanding!

While the description of Pakistan is accurate, India is not all that holy.Contrary to India's claims, the Indian Constitution enshrines a "Many Nations Theory" by enshrining both inequality under law (anathema to democracy) and exceptions to the rule of law (antithetical to the notion of a nation).

Your book is informative. You tried best to understand the psychology of Pakistan as an individual . But one thing you yourself know that it doesn't behave like an individual. One can save self from a bomb but not from a suicide bomber. Pakistan is not a bomb but a suicide bomber. Your suggestion to US to refrain from being an umpire or referee is the best possible solution but guys at Pentagon are not going to listen to you. They call you people not strategist but authors. They don't want to end "pentagon's hegemony"

She talks sense about Pakistan but she is not at all talking about India and what India will do when pushed beyond a point. Again the focus is only on what Pakistan will do and India seems this mute spectator in her arguements. The biggest gamechanger is that the born-in-Pakistan moderates that ruled India have finally been chucked out. Todays rulers of India have no patience with pandering to Pakistan.. Indians and Pakistanis are the same genetically so when Indians decide-and i believe that already have-they will behave the same way as the Pakistanis do under the cover the nuclear umbrella. India can blackmail the world much better than Pakistan can and we are already doing so. Ajit Doval aleady said so.-You do another Mumbai, we will do Balochistan-another East Pakistan and he calls it defensive offense! I think Indians have decided although they will never admit it that you have to break Pakistan's arms and legs to keep it manageble.

Aristotle said that a country makes an Army when it does not trust other countries to protect itself. Armies and intelligence angencies are the product of mistrust between nations or more precisely humans. This mistrust could be for any reason. But the primary responsiblity of an army or intelligency aganecy is not to trust anyone and protect the country at any cost. I do not understand why this Christine Fair is so pissed off with Pakistani Army. All it does is try to protect Pakistan within its limited resources. USA during cold war used to fly planes 24/7 with nuclear weapons to bomb russia. What did CIA not do to protect USA? This is pakistan army's job to keep India and Afghanistan on their toes which it does and that pisses off Christine Fair and his friends. These two countries have been hostile to Pakistan in the past. Pakistan has so many big problems with these countries that they can not be trusted. But yet again Christine Fair is persisted and presenting books to reveal the true identity of Pakistan army and ISI to the world. She needs to understand that something that comes out of "mistrust "can not be good. American Army and CIA are also the product of mistrusting other countries and human. This delimma of more human condition. Let's say you are married to a woman that you do not trust. What do you think your kids will become when they grow up? They will be the result of all the mistrust between their parents. What does she want? This iodiot wants an Army and intelligence agency to become the symbol of honesty, mercy and truthfullness. Well, good luck with that! Or does she wants the Pakistan army to be totally eliminated and leave pakistanis on the mercy of other nations. This idiot Christine Fair is just trying to take revenge on some personal thing or she works for the enemies of Pakistan or she wants to be in the media or she is just simply a jackass. I think she needs to go back to school to study political science again.

Pakistan is a country with substance and value. Pakistan has controlled many relations sweetly with no aggression. The independence was Surely a win only to be forced to war for a land of freedom of belief.the right of independence. Pakistan can make an argument, of course however India has a great relationship with America. America have Economically and nationally supported India. This is what differs Pakistan from India. for yourself to be blacklisted from Pakistan was a smart strategic from the government with respect. If you have a view against a view where you visit for more knowledge in a. Country your against is surely disrespect.
