If you mean the grey piece that Onslaught plugs into, yes, both chest pieces fit, though you have to also remove the lower grey piece for the IDW look.

Actually, I meant it the other way around, so the IDW piece Onslaught pegs into and the G1 chest plate, however if it works as described by you, it will also work the other way. Thank you for your informative answer.

I think they wanted the head to be removable so Bruticus arm would look good in combiner mode.
