We have our 32 players who will battle it out for the greatest trophy in Snooker - The World Title. 16 Seeds & 16 Qualifiers will play across 17 days at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
In this video, we will take a look at all of the first round draws, making predictions for each. We will also look at my predictions for who will win it, the runner up, the player to make the most century breaks and the biggest flop of the tournament, too.
The World Snooker Championship 2024 will include last years Winner, Luca Brecel. Along with Ronnie O'Sullivan, Mark Allen, Mark Selby, Mark Williams, Ding Junhui, Shaun Murphy, Ali Carter, Gary Wilson, Zhang Anda, Kyren Wilson, John Higgins, Tom Ford, Barry Hawkins & Robert Milkins. It will also include the 16 qualifiers who competed at the Sheffield Institute of Sport. These names include David Gilbert, Pang Junxu, Stephen Maguire, Lyu Haotian, Joe O'Connor, Dominic Dale, Jamie Jones, Robbie Williams, Hossein Vafaei, Ricky Walden, Jak Jones, Si Jiahui, Jack Lisowski, Stuart Bingham, Ryan Day & Jackson Page.

Hiya. Cannot wait for it all to start. As some people know I love my Horse Racing and Snooker and know when to (and when not to) have a bet. I might not have a bet this year but I cannot believe the price of Zhang Anda to win outright (33/1 generally) that is way too big with the season he has had. And Mark Allen is a good price outright also (around 12/1). Both good each-way bets! (They would need to reach the final for the punter to win and to get half those odds). Anyway what is my "tip"? (if you pardon the pun). I think it is about time Mark Allen did the business so he is the tip for the title this year. Should be fun whatever the outcome. Enjoy! Regards. Justin. X. ♥.

Hi Justin - thanks for the comments and your 2-cents on the winner. Zhang Anda being 33/1 is absolutely outrageous odds and something I hadn’t even considered - so I might have to have a bet on him! As for Mark Allen, I think you could be right. He has had a brilliant season and the way he plays really does suit this format. Really can’t wait for the worlds to start now so bring on Saturday! 😃👍🏼

I can see Selby and Trump out first round,Selbys been dire all season bar one match afainst O'Sullivan the head to heads mean nothing if Selby plays like he did last match.

I’m not so sure. Selby thrives at the worlds and the longer format matches really do suit him. Look how he beat O’Sullivan 6-0 in the Players championship! I suppose we will have to wait and see. As for Trump - I think he’ll be looking for a better run than last year. But he could fall down to anyone in the 32. Whatever happens, I’m sure it’ll be a classic tournament!

Huge call - but I like it. Allen looks so strong and his game suits this longer format. Would be a massive shame if Selby did hang up his cue, but like yourself I find that hard to believe. Thanks for the comment :)

Enjoyed that James, Thk Q.... Just sub'd after seeing Michael Holts predictions and thought I'd play along with you, putting pen to paper and using pause :) Pretty similar results to be fare.... I think like you really, that Ronnie will take some stopping thats for sure.... But because the Crucible is so unpredictable, creating immense exiting around the world. No one should be ruling out Si as him and Luca stole the show last year somewhat.. But hay hoe, I'll be glued .... Peace ✌

Wouldnt it be great to see Jak Jones win the WC! He would be only the third qualifier in history to achieve this after Terry Griffiths and Shaun Murphy. James i want to test your snooker knowledge. How many deciding frames in WC history have been won by a black ball decider??

James Mark Selby has said this could be his last year playing snooker. if the WC this year proves an early exit that could be curtains. Higgins the same.

I highly doubt Selby will hang up his cue, regardless of his result - however Higgins I could see retiring after this competition!

it has started and many of these predictions have already gone wrong and the bigger flop was selby not brecel and its eitehr going to be williams ronnie or judd who wins this i don't see this going any other way

Its the 2 last record Ronnie is chasing,this of the most W.Chips(alone!)and this of the eldest winning it,same as he did this seaaon in U.K champ and Masters.Karma will make him the TripleCrown winner as the eldest and 2man achieving it after the 1and only made in past by Mark Williams in 2003 i think...

Hi James. Personally I think Judd will win it. I think Ronnies first round match against Jackson Page could be a minor, but not huge upset. Jackson has beat some big names this year, and has always been spoken about as a major talent.

I think that Page won’t be phased by Ronnie. I think you might be right about that. But I’m not so sure if Judd can do it. There is so much talent in this draw and he will have to face some difficult opponents on his way to the final!
