7:07 I'd love to see some more love for American Parkruns! There seem to be 3 in the Seattle area; free weekly 5km races every Saturday at 9am. You did say nothing crazy, but these might still be too "local", and without enough fast competitors for you. They could still be fun to check out at some point, even if not for the tune up. "Perrigo Parkrun" seems to usually have a few sub 18 minute finishers.

I'm loving to wath your videos Allie. I'm struggling by ed. After almost 2 year, i couldn't continue living like that, i couldn't continue to run and finally admit my ed and started a treatment. Then i cryed so much due to not feeling good to run and now, after almost 3 months of no run, i started to run again. I lost a good amount of fitness, but i'm trying to not be stressed about it, i'm so so happy to run a little bit already, cause i love to run. And you are my biggest inspiration to chase my dreams in my run and whole life.

Thanks for all the content!!! At USA's you looked really healthy compared to some of the other women. Every time I watch a women's pro race, I often wonder how many are struggling with an ED. Just in my daughters running career (middle/high school and college), she ran with at least 5 to 6 girls with this problem. Thank you for spreading knowledge about this prolific issue ❤❤❤
@allie_ostrander Жыл бұрын
While I really appreciate where this comment is coming from, I don't think it hit the note you intended. Hearing that I "looked really healthy" compared to other runners is objectively a compliment, and I thank you for the kind words. However, as someone with a history of an ED, that's not the way my brain interprets it. Instead of hearing a compliment, I hear "you look fat", "you're too big", and "you don't look like a runner." In general, if someone has a history of an ED, disordered eating, or body image troubles, it's best to avoid comments about their body, even if the comments are positive like "strong", "healthy", "better than before", etc. I know that your intent was entirely positive, so this is in no way an angry response to your comment, I just want to take this opportunity to share this knowledge so that your comments to other people might be different in the future :)
@thomasphilyaw8593 Жыл бұрын
@allie_ostrander Allie, Thank you for your feedback. I truly appreciate it. When I hit send on my original message, I thought about that, but I thought... no, it's ok. Blame me being a man for that and not thinking past "hey I'm giving a compliment". It's ignorance/stupidity on my part for not thinking about that. Keep up the great work you're doing!!!

But God willing, my son and I will be moving to Boulder or Fort Collins when he is finished with college in a year and a half! Now the real question will be how long will it take me to acclimate to high altitude after not training at that level in over two decades? it depends on the race. USATF championships are not free--there's an entry fee and you have to pay for a USATF annual membership to be able to compete--but some of them do cover travel expenses for the elite field. Other races, like Worlds, Millrace, 5th Ave Mile, etc, are completely covered
