Absolutly beautiful specimen of Hyalite Opal set in gorgeous red rock matrix host.
I have been wanting a special piece of this mineral for some time and i found it, isn't it just beautiful to see how the transparent Opal bubbles and oozes it's magic from the lovely red rock host. It is absolutly covered in bubbly Opal on the face or inner rock side.
On one end you can see how the transparency of the Opal enhances and amplifies the red rock color making the Opal look red or like the rock is wet, it is an extra special feature i noticed to this specimen.
The bright green fluorescence is due to minute traces of Urainium Oxides present during the creation of the Opal, Urainium is nutorious for it's 'nuclear' bright green glow under ultra-violet light and just the smallest amount of contamination in the Opal can cause intense glow, but it is not a radioactive mineral due to the microscopic trace amounts of Urainium Oxides.
