Hi Jennifer and Joe. Thank you for your testimony of faith. I use to have a poster growing up that said "God does NOT make mistakes." Joe is truly a blessing and he is thriving in the loving home you and Warren and all his siblings provide. Not to take away from the challenges you have faced, but Joe to me is a "normal" child--he plays the piano, he helps in the kitchen, he does his schoolwork, he helps with the laundry, he helps during cranberry harvest and he holds and plays with his little nephew and niece. I know that for him to accomplish all he does takes a lot of courage, willpower and fortitude on his part. He is an amazing and gifted child--he is Joe. He teaches us kindness, tolerance and awareness that those that are different are just that--different. Have a blessed day Jennifer and thank you for opening your heart on this special day.

It took me a few minutes to compose myself before I could write this. Jennifer thank you for making this video. Although our children do not have Downs Syndrome, they are both special needs children. Our daughter Grace is on the Autism Spectrum and our son Aiden has Tourette's Syndrome. When you said the words a difficult blessing, my heart just sped up and I cried. It describes my babies so beautifully. I always, always say, I would never change my children for the world, but I wish I could change the world for my children. Joe is such an incredible light in this world. God does not make mistakes, and I truly truly believe my children are a blessing. They have also taught me patience lol which is something I lack hahaha. But I believe they have made me not just a better mom, but a better person. I can not imagine our lives without them and again I thank you for sharing your lives and your vulnerability with us. God bless you all, Lynn

Thank you for sharing. I do believe people that are "different" tend to be BIG blessings! In 2011 I gave birth to a little baby girl with Trisomy 13. She was with us for one week, but such a huge blessing for our family. The compassion from those around us was amazing! And they continue to be. Compassion and patience are key to any good life. As I hear you read you notes at that time, my tears are rolling down. I truly remember the day I was told my Anthony has autistism spectrum. My husband was at work and my mother-in-law happened to come with me but pulled away when she heard the doctor telling me my toddler's diagnosis. I must add that both my in-laws kept an emotional distance from my son as if he had the plague! It does get better. I also found peace in God, and I found I could talk to God as my Father asking Him to help me through what I, as a nurse, would be facing in my future. As much as I taught my son, he taught me so much more. All glory comes from God and He knows why I was the one of six chicken who gave birth to my son. Jennifer, I know all the emotions you felt as I, too found it hard to deal with that day . I will never forget. My God, my Father in Heaven is with me raising this child and gave me a gift I will never repay: patience, hope and love for others!

I've had a special spot in my heart for those with Down Syndrome since I was in my young 20s and had the opportunity to work at a state facility. I think they are some truly special people and I always take the chance to interact. I think Joe is such a special young man and he makes me laugh so often, but today he made me cry when he was so loving with his mom. ❤❤ You may never know how important your work is that you do here on KZbin, but it really is so important. Hearing your story is like reliving my experience 15 years ago when I first got the u/s news about my daughter’s birth defects (she died at 37 weeks). I don’t allow myself to remember that time too often, but it’s so important to reflect and know that God carries us through even the scariest moments. Joe and your whole family are such beautiful examples of faith and love!

We love Joe here! It has been a so much fun to watch him grow up. When my 12 year old daughter hears your voice, she asks how Joe is. She has a friend with Down Syndrome in her ballet class. I love their friendship. When I was pregnant with our second baby, her measurements were off so I has to see a specialist. They couldn't confirm or rule out Down Syndrome. We opted not to so amnio because of previous miscarriage history. The genetic specialist went through all the charts and diagrams then explained our "options." My husband and I didn't like the option they offered so we left and decided to learn all we could about parenting a child with Down Syndrome. Our daughter does not have Down Syndrome. We (with 6 kids and now grandbabies) appreciate you sharing glimpses of life with Joe and the rest of your family. God bless you!

God chooses special mamas for special babies. I had a set of twins that were born three months premature. One was 2 lbs. 11 oz. one was 3 lbs. 3 oz. I remember my husband and I feeling so helpless and I just prayed to God that my babies would live well now today they’re 38 years old both wonderful young men you’re an amazing mother.

You r so blessed to have Joseph. Our middle daughter delivered a downs little boy without knowing this diagnosis. We were shocked but knew this would not make a difference. Cody lived only six days after two surgeries - too many problems. The Lord blessed us too with this precious little boy! And the Lord blessed our daughter with three other children. I will see Cody again someday and spend all the time I want with him. Joseph is a wonderful gift from God!

At 37 weeks pregnant I found out my son has hydrocephalus and agenesis of the corpus callosum. I was crying with you as you read that. That's how I felt. He's turning one year next month. I wouldn't trade him for the world!

A very dear friend that had a special needs daughter whom never said a word and was in a nursing home for for many years ,once told me that when Pam was born and She was so scared a dear friend told her that God only gives special babies to Special People.She said from that day on She looked at it as the greatest gift ever ,Ms Lela went ever day to see Pam ,I think Pam was in her 30’s when She died ,Ms. Lela just died 2 weeks ago at 92 ,can You imagine the joy she felt when She heard Pam say Mama for the very first time .
