I played them both on the test server, covered them in my 7.5 preview videos. I think I prefer the T110E3, that frontal armour is just monstrous. Did like the Jagdpanzer E-100, though, but its reload means you have to play it more carefully.

Jingles doesn't acknowledge that one could easily ignore the upgraded 85mm and 100mm as the turret is cheaper than both and you SHOULD'VE unlocked the first 122mm from the KV-1S/KV-85, and when you upgrade the turret you can immediately mount the KV-1S/85 122mm

Personally, I think the IS feels to KV1S players like the T32 feels to T29 players...Basically a "bit-better-armored-version-with-same-gun" which on a heavy tank, is one of the most killing factors to decide how good a tank is

It all depends on what you want to do. Buying your KV-1 back isn't going to get you any closer to an IS-7 or IS-4, but if you're not interested in grinding towards tier 10s, then sure - pick whatever's the most fun to play.

When I played it on the 7.3 test server it was awful. However it's had a lot of buffs since 7.3 went live and most people who drive it seem to love it now. If I was to get one it would take a while, I don't have it researched yet and it's a nasty grind to get it elited.

Jingles, it's just basically a slower, more well-armored KV-1S with the same but faster loading gun(122mm D-2-5T is 4.08 seconds 122mm D-25T is 4.88 seconds). Not bad, but you can really lose money, each round costs 1,025 Credits, I've lost money on more than one occasion. Still it's a bunch of fun ;)

Yeah, the KV-1S seems like the sweet spot. Same gun but a tier lower and easier matchmaking. Special event on the EU server tomorrow though - half price Russian heavies! I'll be able to get me a KV-1, T-150 and KV-1S on the cheap and play them again.

Oh that's a fair comment. You tend to die pretty soon after getting that one damaging shot on those tier 9s though, that's the point I was making. Any other tier 7 heavy in the game can stay back and still do consistent damage, the IS is the only one that needs to get close and flank the big boys.

Well it's been buffed in two seperate patches since it was introduced, so someone at WG seems to agree. Wot Armoury quotes: "But the mediocre armor ( wish, I could forget that huge shot trap) paired with the poor mobility and turret speed, long aim time and low gun depression of the main gun left us in the woods. You must avoid narrow places, because your great length and lack of pivot-turning hamper your maneuverability. Oh, did I mention the flammability, even by frontal hits?"

The side scraper maneuver is bread and butter for a seasoned ausf b driver like myself. I must say though, having the rear mounter turret is very funky, but it adds charm.

Tier = level. Each tanks is sorted into different tiers to show how powerful they are, from tier 1 to tier 10. The IS is in tier 7.

the proper way to side scrape it to turn your tank around so that the back of your tank is toward the wall and your moving forwards, instead of backwards to hit the enemy. It works best with tanks that have the turret in the front of the tank instead of in the middle (i.e. the is4).

There is one quirk about the Ausf B's gun though, the shell velocity is slow for such a big gun, and the shells arch quite a bit. You will learn ALOT from the ausf B that can be applied to the maus. Like instead of driving around a corner, you have to sort of "Back around" it. I have a couple replays on the Ausf B if you ever wanna look at them.

The best way to grind this tank is to IGNORE the guns that are not below the new turret. If you already brought the derp gun for the KV-1S, suck up the pain, and grind 12K XP for the new turrent then mount the 122M. Grind the 19K Xp then get the D-25T+ a gun rammer. That puts the reload at 10.6 seconds. I know people don't like a 10 second reload, but the IS has terrible aumor.(Not good like BohemienEagle said) You want to shoot, then hide or run. It's a heavy-meduim. Not a heavy tank.

I have the IS and the MM where ever it places me, I enjoyed from battles of tier 9 & 10. As far as range, you can make an IS a sniper tank. You don't always have to be up close to get a good shot. In 9 & 10 tier battles the IS is good for support fire.

Yeah it is worth! It makes u accelerate much quicker and like u said IS3 will use it as well. So u can mount it diretly on ur IS3 when u have it.

Jingles, you are incorrect about the drivers hatch. The IS, like the KV-13, has "120mm" of frontal armor. Well it just so happens the STRONGEST point on the armor is the drivers hatch, at 120, in fact it's the only point on the IS with 120mm armor.

Played a game yesterday in my IS on Lakevile in a tier7 game and was the only one to go town and I killed all 5 enemy tanks(2 lights, a medium, a KV1S and a T29) and only lost about 200 hit points. Love my IS

I play this on the xbox 360 and I love it, just shoot and drop back and it only takes a few shots to deal big damage. The matchmaking for all tier 7s are good because tier 9s are always in tier 10 games because theres not a lot of tier 10s in the whole game. When im in a tier 9 game there is 1-5 tier 9s so it's rare that you will fight one. This tank will murder tier 8 quite easily

That you bounced the dirst shot off the e-75s turret was to be expectet. You hit a 160mm thick armor plate at quite a decent angle. The hull was angeled too but i think there you had a bad rng.

Is the second engine worth upgrading to on the IS? It seems like a lot of wasted XP for something you'll get on the IS-3 later on, and it'll only prolong the already painfully long time it takes to get the IS-3 researched.

You're right about the accuracy Jingles.. I took a shot at a T-34 from 400m (silly, I know) and it hit all right, but bounced.. That was a 'WTF argh!' rocking back and forth in chair rage-quitting moment.. I think I hit his gun mantle at almost a 180° angle.. Even so, a T-34????

The shot on the JagdPanther hit his gun, which was a penetrating hit, but didnt go through the gun fully to cause HP damage, most likely took out his gun, and this can and does happen on the Xbox version.

Hitting and penetrating spaced armor will say penetration but unless the hull or turret armor is also penetrated, no damage.

175mm pen isn't that bad, but with crappy pen rolls it hurst some times. In high tier games act as support. Move right behind the medium tanks and hit the big ones in the sides.

Have you tried using HE on the tier 9? I know that since the HE changes most players forget that they have HE but that situation with the E75 got me thinking. A 122 mm HE shell to the side of the E75 turret "should" do some damage and take out at least one module. Might be worth checking out...

Am I the only one who misses this version of world of tanks? the sound effects..bring back so many memories. of course the current wot is beautiful beyond measure in comparison. But part of me wishes I could go back and play it all again from the beginning. back when weak spots where unknown and people actually shot on the is7s turret lol back when weak spots where little known and armor had some value. In todays wot if you can't penetrate you just load gold and auto aim. *Sigh* most just fire gold as standard :/

In 26 games, using first the 85mm gun and now the 100mm gun, I have earned Master Gunner, Sharpshooter and Fire for Effect. Now I dont play this as a up close brawler, thats not my style. I have kept the first turret, it turns faster and installed optics to increas the view range. So yes, you can earn medals in the IS.

(Continued, i really hate 500 word limits) Prolonged combat in an IS will get you killed within 20 seconds. Something with much better aumor such as a Tiger P or Type 59 should be leading the charge, and the IS is a 2nd line heavy-medium tank. You cannot be the first in battle or you will die, so i think a 10 second reload time fits perfectly with how this tank plays. Having a 6 or 7 reload time would intice players to try and slug it out against meduims.(Cannot do with only 120MM aumor)

After watching this video I decided to play a battle or two. First battle I get in was an Assault on Malinovka, Tier VIII game, I'm in my ELC. I'm not willing to go over the tracks because a sneeze can kill me so I stay back. I get shot at by an IS at 450+ meter range - he hits my front right next to the track and takes off 369 HP and my track. Bit later, same IS, same range, his shot bounced - off an ELC. I literally laughed out loud.

I liked the IS a lot, even more than IS-3, you just don't play it the right way. The IS has a very high alpha damage, that's one advantage, but another one that make it better than other tier 7 heavies is its mobility. When in tier 9 matches, other tier 7 will just sit back and snipe like a bitch right? And the alpha damage is not even high. Me, I tend to play like a medium in tier 9 matches. If you manage to flank them, that gun is gonna wreck them, and cause a lot of panic. In tier 7 matches, basically you are a beast, nuff said LOL

Now that 8.2 is live. The IS has been nerfed to become a glass cannon turret wise. The turret's basically the oxymoron of all the other turrets. The mantlet's thin as butter, while the rest is actually stronger than it. The sides and rear have been nerfed to 90 mm. People are already ripping through my turret and now Wargaming's gonna nerf it more? Who's idea was it to nerf the IS anyways?

I was in my ausf b today, and i got myself into the nasty situation of facehugging a JPZE100, he and i exchanged bounces, and i switched to HE and aimed at his mantle in hopes it would take out his gun. Eagle eye came in handy, as i saw i destroyed his gun. I kept spamming HE and kept his gun destroyed, taking him down ~200 damage a pop, taking him down to 800 before a T92 killed us both.

P.S. As of Patch 9.7 the 100mm D10T gun on the IS has a accuracy of .38 and a aim time of 2.7. And with a fully trained crew and a gun rammer, a reload time of just over 6 seconds, which is why I use that gun and will never use the 122mm gun.

maybe its just me but i endorse the D-25T so much on my IS, i wont use any other gun. got a good crew so my reload is 9 seconds and my aiming time is also good. but anyway a heavy tanks hould be used at long ranges so i tend to hit al my shots i take (lots of snapshots)

I want to unlock the IS from the KV-1Sport (like most of the ppl now), i have the 122 D-2-5T gun unlocked (cause its a must have on the KV-1S) and the stock gun. What would you suggest in this case get the turret from free xp (or try to unlock quick with stock gun) and mount D-2-5-T or get the idiot gun? Which is the better gun?

It can use the KV-1S' gun, but only after you unlock the second turret. Which seems weird to me, but that's Wargaming for you I suppose. If they started doing things that made sense none of us would know what to do.

i had the same bad luck, had awful teams too. I went from 59% winrate in it down to 46% in 24 hours. Safe to say i gave the tank a rest for a few days ;)

I sold my IS after i got Ace tank mastery badge( and unlock the IS-3), but i m having so much fun playing with the KV-1S lately i start to consider giving another go with this tank. this tanks r awesome. In the tier 6 heavy's, the KV-1S is the only one i feel confident and do well in tier 8 battles. With the Churchill VII i instantly feel the need to press ALT+F4 xD (but i never did that)

I understand what you mean. I all but stopped playing my T34 and SU85 to get to a SU5. Although I love the tank I find the games leave me felling useless. Is it worth working to get to the SU8? Any help would be great.

I don't usually love russian vehicles but the IS is a fantastic tank. The new matchmaking makes most of the games tier 6/7 which this tank can dominate if you know weakspots (looking at you t29 drivers).

having played both i'd almost say i like the KV-3 better. the 107mm gun is a much better choice than the 122 imo, better accuracy and better ROF effectively means better DPM since you can aim for weak spots and actually hit them (usually). pretty much everyone is gonna be going down that IS-7 line though so it doesn't really matter.

I once faced of and won against two ISs simultaneously in a T29. That said, I still prefer the IS for it's mobility, especially on tight maps and as a top tier tank.

I basically agree with everything else besides those 2 things. Should completly ignore the other 2 guns, or get them last after everything else if you want to master the tank. Also should NEVER be the first to engage or lead. Teir 5 tanks can penetrate 120MM of aumor if they hit the right places, and coming from 200 battles in the IS this tank has ALOT of weak spots and not just the 2 you showed. A good player can out-gun alot of heavy's 1 on 1, but will die shortly after by another tank.
