Hmmm... so Jingles said he had a horrible losing streak for months, which certainly isn't due to a lack of skill on his part. Yet he said that bad statistics do usually say something about the individual player's skill level. It seems as if it is actually possible to get thrown into one bad team after another and thus get bad statistics without much fault of your own. I'm not saying this to defend or excuse myself. I'm only playing the game for less than a week now and I have been told that my statistics are pretty decent for a newbie. I have lost games without doing much wrong and I have won games without contributing much myself. I really don't see how a win ratio can tell much about the skills of a player under the circumstances we all face in this kind of game where you are dependent on others.

Statistically speaking, a trend will emerge over time. If you contribute to your team more on average than detract from it, your win rate, assuming you are playing a ton of games, will lean above or below 50%. Having shitty team after shitty team is just confirmation bias. You only notice when you have a shitty team but you should be getting shitty teams about 50% of the time. If you have good WN8 but low win rate it means that you probably aren't playing aggressive enough and carrying your team early in the game, or doing a ton of damage in the beginning of the game and dying and preventing your team from winning later in a match.

flyboy92 I know about confirmation bias and I try to keep such things in mind when I assess what is happening to me, but confirmation bias doesn't suspend my ability to count and to notice it when I lose 30 games in a row. Do you know the "Tactical Genius" badge? You get that for winning 3 matches in a row and after having played over 1100 matches now, I haven't been awarded that badge once. I think that says something beyond my subjective, biased observations. My WN8 isn't good either (global: 561, recent: 745, according to WOTLABS), but I am confident to improve it. I'm still learning the maps and am still mostly grinding tanks I don't like to get to the ones I want. I think I can claim to be a fairly aggressive player, sometimes to my detriment. Even in fragile tank destroyers, I only camp as long as I have something to shoot at. As soon as the supply of enemies dries up where I am, I go to keep the gun firing. I know that that is just common sense and nothing to brag about. But that is why I get angry at team mates who seem to lack that common sense. I also always try to be a team player and to keep the bigger picture in mind. When I notice that my team is neglecting a flank, I go there to defend, even if I know I'll be overrun. What gets me killed the most is when I try to do the job of a heavy tank or a scout in a fragile TD, because I see that nobody else is doing the job. If you don't believe me, you can check out the replay videos I uploaded to KZbin. I even have a special playlist just for the most interesting or most exemplar of the kind of matches I'm talking about. (Matches in which I got "Fire For Effect" and in most cases mastery badges and still lost horribly.) I started saving interesting replays and making videos out of some of them about 200 matches ago, when I started grinding the Russian TD line to my first big goal, the ISU-152. (I know, a machine loved by noobs, but everybody says it is so much fun and I believe it because I generally had fun playing the SU-100 and now currently the SU-152.) What I'm trying to say is that I have pretty good documentation of the last 200 to 250 matches or so I played and believe me, it isn't just confirmation bias. Said playlist already contains 45 videos and I can tell you, I didn't turn every single replay of that kind into a video. I would do nothing but record and upload videos to KZbin all day if I would try to do that. I only took the matches that were either especially annoying or especially typical for the kind of matches I am talking about and still I ended up with 45 out of 200 to 250 matches. You won't be shocked to learn that there is also the occasional match in which I lose without getting any badges, lol. The point being that this might not be prove, but at least it hints at the possibility that my subjective observation isn't totally off. Fact is, I have won 264 "Fire For Effect" badges as of now and the vast majority of those during the last 300 matches or so. As I said before, I know that doesn't mean I'm good, but I think the fact that I'm usually doing more damage than I receive, means - or is likely to mean, I'm at least pulling my own weight and am usually not a drag on my team overall. You might still think my shittiness must be the main reason for why I lose more games than I win, but in that case you could watch my replays if you can stomach the boredom and judge for yourself whether I'm the bigger problem in those matches, or the performance of the team as a whole.

Stummelbo if you feel your team is failing you all the time, you probably are not supporting them enough. if you look at these older replays from jingles where he is still bitching about the teams all the time, he is always staying way to far behind and tries to do damage from the extreme end of the render range. sure you can eventually do some decent damage with opertunity shots and think you where valuable to your team. but you are actually only able to do that damage because you let your team be overrun, only doing some damage until the enemy has dpm'ed your alies to death and they stealth up again. at that point you lost your support and you will be next. and now you can no longer stay hidden and you have to fight your way out, something most campers are not able to do. i'm not saying you should rush forward, but if you don't have a shot at an enemy thats threatning your alies, relocate and move forward and make sure you have a shot before your teammate gets picked off. if you always still have 100% health when your teammates are all dead and you then get shot up within 30 seconds as soon as you get spotted because you are all thats left, it isn't your team but rather it's you. always stay about 200 meters behind the front line in your support tanks and shoot and scoot. take a shot, relocate in case you got spotted and just repeat. don't mary the first bush you meet when you leave base ;)

I've had a rest from the game for... about 3 months now. I feel great these days. Not saying you're wrong with that first statement, but I played the game consistently and so I have some experience in how to play, as a part of a team. I usually support my team as best I can depending on what tank I drive, and what friendly tanks I have around me. I've learned that being flexible and speedy is a huge plus in general so I mostly drive tanks that can shift flanks quickly if either side needs more help. I don't give up once we start to lose, and instead I become a little bit more of a tryhard at staying alive and keeping my allies alive, if possible. It works from time to time but since the success rate fluctuates, it's clearly not about my own effort. Now, you might say I need to be more patient, but almost every game I play, there is no visible teamwork among everyone else. I rarely get assistance when I'm in trouble and so I learned to be immensely thankful when it happens... and I often get out of my own way to help others because I keep checking the minimap for trouble. There's seldom any communication in chat, and if there is, it's mostly non-english, or it's bantering or harrassment. Sorry to say, I don't think my defeat streaks had much to do with my own playstyle, since I carry my own weight in considerably more games than I lose. I carry my own weight in terms of dealing damage, soaking damage, giving allies a few extra shots off before they inevitably die, but... I simply got tired of trying to carry a lot of games and failing. You could say that I was just unlucky.

Stummelbo i actually started to play again last weekend, my last game before that was februari 2015. So i'm rusty as hell as well. But its much eadier to pick up again then i expected though. You're right about there being very little teamwork. But if you let your succes depend on that you will always be in the same situation. Probably until the end of time lol. I do know what you feel like, been trough thag as well and was also always mad when the team never did what they where "supposed" to do. Truth is though, if you want to be succesfull in wot you have to change your attitude to the game and your teammates. It's hard to exactly point out how to do that or what it means exactly, but at a certain point you start to see how to best handle situations and how to make your clueless teammates usefull to you. If your teammates refuse to move up, learn to lure your enemies in their fireing range. if a flank doesn't get protected and they all train into other side of the map, lead the train and make sure the it doesn't get halted for a single tank destroyer. And don't go after the easy damage or kills, leave those to your team. but make sure you recognise the biggest threat and make sure that gets taken out first. You will get your damage when it's time to mop up. Always, always go for tracking shots over damage shots in order to give your alies time to kill enemies for you. Things like that. If you lead the way, most teammates will gladly follow you. But most just don't know when to strike. They get killed instantly after yoloing the first 100 games and then become too defensive and start camping. A good player learns to use the team as it is, including weaknesses. not expect from it what it clearly isn't..... Unicums have exactly the same teams you have, they just make use of the abilities random teams have instead of expecting them to have any idea what they are doing.. Besides that, knowing the abilities of your tank and map knowledge is what you should focus on learning. And if you want to cary always prefer dpm over alpha and mobility over armour and maximise view range. Thats why unicums always prefer medium tanks with decent gun depression. You can't concistently cary in huge TD's or lumbering heavies. Sure you can have awesome games, but you just can't be where you need to be usually in sticky situations. These tanks give you either awesome games if things fall in place but most of the time leave you unable to save games that start to go to shit. And always remember, the enemy team is usually just as clueless as yours, so if you just sometimes can give your team a little advantage with your play, it is enough to shift battles in your favour and your winrate can easilly shoot up to over 60%. No matter how good you are, you simply cannot win everything. But if you normally have 50/50 wins/losses and you can make a difference in 10% of the losing games you're winrate starts to skyrocket. And the game becomes much more satisfying. Anyway, that was my experience. Good luck ;)

And so the eagerness to win as a team went into frustration in the end. But I mean, if I'm too stubborn to change for a game, I might as well not play it and save myself and other people the pain. Stummelbo yeah, if that style just doesn't suit you, maybe it's not for you. I do know that it isn't possible to change the people you play with, so either adapt and have fun or find a game that does offer what you are looking for and save yourself the frustration. But all i can say is that once i made that transition wot became much more fun and satisfying. Maybe find a clan and do some team battles, then your in voicechat with everyone and things are much more strategic. And there are loads of clans out there with regular players that don't care about stats and just wanna have fun a couple of nights a week with other regular players. Ok man. See ya.

Jingles, your going to love this. So, i bought one of these yesterday, and loaded it up with consumables and ammo, put some camo on it, and hit the battle button. Very first game in it, our IS-3 gets in trouble and has less than 300 hp, an enemy IS comes charging in to finish him off, and i see it and stop to fire. The very first time i pulled the trigger, it kills a friendly. This is why you aim.

Hi Jingles, just wanted to say a massive thanks for making all the world of tanks videos and it's a real shame your deciding to give up. Hopefully one day Wargaming will realise the match maker can be improved by taking the percentage of victories which then determines the skill of the player and throwing that into games where the players have equal victory values rather than allowing 1 player with excellent victory percentage go in with 14 with utter rubbish percentages.

Hey Jingles, great video, I'm really glad you made on on this tank, it's one of my favourites, as well as one of my best tanks! Firstly, I would recommend that you change your camo skill on your crew members to repair, as once you get past the Jagdpanther, German TDs have basically no camo. To compare, the ISU-152 has a rating of 17.5, while the Jagdtiger 88 has 6.5 (ELC AMX has 20, as another example). Also, I'd recommend clutch breaking and if you can afford it, binocs are really good.

Just wanted to say that after watching your review/performance video of the JdTig.88 I got me one and have not regretted it ever since. Already got my Mastery Batch - made marvelous creds. Well in patch 8.5 there's a second Russian light tank line at tier 2, 3 and 4 that are actually good tanks and also lead to the T-34. So there's a way of getting there that means you don't have to play the dreaded A-20.

To a degree, yes. But at lower tiers it's easier to capitalise on that. At higher tiers being left alone against four idiots in IS-7s is bad news, because they might be idiots, but they're in IS-7s. A KV-1 alone against against four idiots in T1 Heavies can still kill them if he angles and they don't.

Jingles, the traverse rate is also dependant on engine power, so it may have a higher traverse, but it's engine power is much lower, therefore meaning that it's traverse actually is slower

I'm not 100% sure, but I think rewards in WT aren't tied to winning or losing, it's all about how well YOU do. I COULD BE WRONG ON THIS, HOWEVER. But it *seems* like I'm still getting decent results even on a loss. So no more coming away from a game with 1000xp and 8 kills on a defeat. Unlike certain other games I could mention.

In the Jagdtiger 8.8 cm PaK 43, Jingles, when a enemy tank comes around the corner, the fun thing of RoF guns is , hit his front wheel, means he takes damage and gets tracked.. keep doing that till he is knocked out, trust me, makes them rage all the time.

A small tip from me: when drivin the JPanther, only use the 8.8 it has superior dpm, acc and pen over the 10.5 and it costs less. I also would use it on the Ferdi/JP II until you get the 12.8cm gun.

I think it's a great game, let down only by a playerbase that mostly would have trouble breathing and thinking at the same time. At low and mid tiers if you're any good, you can dominate a match purely by virtue of not being an idiot. At higher tiers, you need to rely on your team a lot more. Play with a friend and it's a lot less frustrating and a LOT of fun.

After 700+battles with the jt88, I can say that I love this thing, really much A nice dirty trick I use while facing enemies is angling normally, the enemy will aim at your lower glacis, but when they're just about to shoot, overangle it. They'll keep aiming at the same spot and bounce (somehow most of the enemies refuse to look to other spots after fully aiming at your lower glacis lol). I love facing Is3s, Is6s and SPs because I can easily punish them xD

Not quite. You can take any German TD crew and stick it into any German premium TD to earn xp without having to retrain them.

My first match in this tank..almost 3 years later, was almost a carbon copy of the first match you showed. Steppes, Tier 8 match, I went the same place you did, the right flank collapsed immediately, and I had to go stop it as the rest of the heavies and mediums pushed further in. Not sure what it is about this tank and attracting stupid teammates.

...I try a pay-to-win experiment now. Bought 1000 HEAT shells for my T-54 on sale. A experiment to see if I can improve my stats by paying. Load 27 AP, 20 HEAT and 3 HE for each battle. With HEAT ammo on the new gun 100 mm D-10T2S, u get 0,35 acc, 2,3 aim time, 350 pen, 320 dam, 7,69 rounds/minute. Pretty awesome. You pen high tier tanks frontally :)

I love the jagdtiger 88. It has a rapid fire, high dpm gun and epic frontal super structure armour. It also gets premium matchmaking which is nice

If you are facing the VK 36 with the Kornisch gun fitted, that particular Tier 6 medium can and will penetrate any armour up to Tier 8 with no problem esp with premium ammo. With prem it can pen up to 276mm. VK 36 w/ Kornisch is the most dangerous Tier 6 medium in the game. Plus with the Großturm fitted, it has 850 HP health.

Hey Eagle, It's a shame you're giving up on WoT. I'm still in the stage of finding it an amazing game and your videos have helped me no end on where to go, what to do and how to play various tanks. my stats have increased no end. and even on a fail team, I generally do well in the rankings. Although I do completely understand that constantly being grouped up with numptys is a massive problem. So, thank you for the vids and good luck on WAR thunder and the other games you play chap :-)

The Object 704, for instance, actually turns slower than the regular Jagdtiger unless it's on concrete, and the E-75 and Tiger II are actually quite agile when considering their ludicrous mass and size.

I wouldn't say I hate the game, it's a great game, it's just the teams you end up in that make me want to chew on my keyboard. I pretty much only play during Quickybaby's Livestreams now, playing with a decent platoon is the way to go.

Sorry Jingles, you are wrong! I am talking about the first replay you had. As a slow heavily armored TD, It was your job to stay back and protect the base/arty. You rushed ahead at the start of the battle because the 8.8 is slow, and if you don’t rush you will miss all the action… (I understand that ;)). But it was you that needed to stay at the base.

I played the JT8.8 a few games myself. In my opinion, the alpha damage Is not enough. I know the rate of fire is great, but at tire 8, 240 is just not enough. To take out a standard tire 8 heavy (1400 HP average) you need 6 hits. You are a tire 8 TD and you need 6 Successful penetrations to kill 1 heavy tank at the same tire. Factor in that you are slow and the gun traverse is really not great, and that’s a great recipe to get blown up. That’s my take on the JT8.8. P.S. I love your WOT videos!

The 8.8 on the Ferdi is pretty much exactly the same gun and can shoot a round every 5 or so seconds with 100% crew. Still not as good as this tank, but it was something I was pretty shocked with once I played it. Very fun gun to play with though regardless of what tank it's mounted on.

I use the same equipment on my jagtiger8.8 except instead of a gun laying drive, i have a toolbox to increase repair times. This comes in especially handy because the jag tiger is a high priority target and track & engine damage are somewhat common

first of all thanks for all the amazing work you do for us jingles,but i think that in the first match the team didn't have many chances since most of big guys went left and with all those meds in the enemy team a rush should be expected and with the support of artillery and seems also the T95 there was no way to stopp the inevitable

I'd lean toward the Jag88 rather than the SP. It seems the honeymoon period is over for the SP and lately everyone's either usi8ng gold ammo or they all know where to shoot the thing. Probably both.
