Congratulations; You've made it through without killing yourself in rage! The Borsig is a great TD. It's short, sneaky, turreted, and both guns are fun. The 12.8cm makes it a sniper. You'll rip through targets at range with ease. The 15cm makes it a fake ISU-152. It has less penetration, and fires slower. But, of course the 15cm isn't as good as the BL-10... WarGaming can't have a German tank surpass a Russian now can they?

Geometry Dash DrinkNDrives If you can make it work, then I commend you. You have more patience than QB or myself. Quickybaby played a total of 18 games in it before he free xp'ed through it... I got to 51 games before I sold it in absolute disgust and free xp'ed past it... In those 51 games I did, I managed to accrue only 25k xp. 25k xp wasn't even half way to that 128mm gun, which used to be 64k xp, not the 58.5k it is now... PLUS you used to have to unlock the tracks to mount the 128. So I had to use the rinky-dink 105mm. And pretty much every match was exactly the same: Tier 9 game, I shoot five times, die, and get 410xp. It would of probably taken me 400 games to get the Rhm-B. Maybe if I had QB's gold pile, so I could fling nothing but APCR, the 105 might of been tolerable. Or if I had 700,000 free xp like QB, and I could get every component unlocked from the start, I might of hated it a bit less. Because that 105mm hunk of shit hardly worked against tier 7's heavies, and I was constantly getting tier 9 games.

Wow...that was amazing how the 59-16 was able to wreck a Tier 7 TD. I had the exact same experience playing the Dicker Max. Unless I found myself fighting on a steep hill I was basically an exp pinata. Learned everything I needed to know about this tank watching this vid. Very good review.

Interesting. That is not my experience with the D.Max. I use it as a credit grinder and if played carefully, it can be a beast. The alpha is really solid, I find and while the depression is nice, it is mostly an added bonus. I am certainly looking forward to playing this machine, regardless of the negative review. I am mostly a TD player, though, so maybe it is down to preference and playstyle.

Niels Toft Larsen the dicker max suffers from aim time and reload as well as strangely inaccurate gun (the shots go wide a lot). I got my D.Max awhile ago and I certanly enjoy it, but I am also keen to get past this Sfl.V and get to the RB Waffle Tractor

So glad you included the clip with the two scouts taking the Pz.Sfl.V apart with relative ease. This is what happens in the majority of battles I get with this TD, so much so I am loathe to push forward with it. The moment it gets spotted everything shoots it and it's game over, especially when almost every battle I get is T9. Shame you didn't show any games with the stock gun, because it is extremely bouncy and seems to make more critical damage hits than penetrations, even when using premium ammo. The tank sucks big time, anyone who is getting more than 1000hp average damage per battle with stock gun is either a liar, very lucky or an amazing player.

I got my pz.sfl.v yesterday I have played a few games in it and the gun depression has worked for me but in some cases the tank is just useless I feel as if the tank only works on certain maps.

Currently grinding with the Emil. It truest is a pain in the ass. Don't have the luxury of free experiencing this tank so I'm just going to have to suffer. This TD is very campy and almost like a direct fire SPG. If I'm going to have any success with this tank, I've learned that I need to hang back and use the view range of my teammates. Makes me feel dirty. Can't wait to get the borsig.

I appreciate the time you took to explain some of the finer points of this tank. I am not looking forward to the Sturer Emil, as evidence of having it unlocked, but have not purchased it....yet. I really, really do love my Nashorn, and even though the Sturer has a much bigger gun, the lethargic nature, shallow gun arc, and limited ammo capacity have me gritting my teeth over getting it (not to mention the 58k xp grind to get the 12,8cm).

Sfl. is short for Selbstfahrfahrlette. Selbstfahrfahrlette means Artillery in German. May explain why it feels like playing an arty.

Achim Hanischdörfer that makes every Russian td artillery too - since they were 'classified' as artillery. In WoT, artillery has indirect fire, that is the big difference between a td and artillery in the game (which is only loosely based on reality) and affects game play in a major way.

I LOVED this tank! I have kept it in my garage and although I can't remember my stats after grinding it out; with binocs, situational awarness, 6th sense, camo, rammer and a camo net this thing is a beast. Stick at the back, snipe and LOL. The other options is to use hills as in the video. Fantastic alpha so its great for your eff. I think it prepares you well for the Borsig too, although the borsig can do alot more and is more flexible. Still; buy it, tank it and love it.

Qucky, it looks like you were trying to play this thing too aggressively. With that kind of armor, it's meant to sit back and snipe. In that game where the lights wrecked you, you were all the way in the middle of the map, surrounded by enemies with 0 support.

You are kinda right. I don't know for how long you have been a QuickyFan but I should let you know that QB is not the type of guy who likes to sit back and snipe. He likes to be active and aggressive although with this TD, the truth is that you can't play like that. ;)

QB on the other hand definitely does not have the playstyle required for this tank unfortunately. well. I have it for 4 days so far. played about 25 battles in it. have 100% wins in it. I'm using stock gun (for more ammo) and I play it the same way as I do with Dicker Max. If you are spotted you are doing it wrong. New TD's are more like arty (allways camp far from frontlines)

Also, the startled look or the reaction players make (especially tier 7 and below) is just hilarious. As they crest the ridge, I snipe them and hit hard and watch them pull back hard and curse in chat. Just brings a smile to my face. Top gun has no problem penning the front of the Obj. 704, which is nice.

I play my Emil on higher distances, so i don't get shot at. But having to turn the tank all the time really counters camo net and binocular telescope.

While playing the 8.9 test server, I noticed that at first the new German TDs dominated. That did not last long or at least no longer than it took many or the RU and EU players to figure out what they had in terms of armor and started "gang raping" the new TDs with fast light tanks (non-autoloaders) and tanks with good speed and autoloaders. That's not to say that was a 100% effective every time, but it was clear early on that the new TDs had some of the same shortcomings we have become accustomed to in most SPGs. Note QB. That 59 16 was using the stock gun (with higher pen) rather than the auto loader. However the auto loaders low pen could still pen you XD

I love the St. Emil. Although the armor is relatively weak and can be easily penned anywhere, If you serve your team as 3rd or 4rth line of defense or as a sniping position, with a trained camo crew, you will not be spotted even when firing from 200m away. I generally have massive games in this, and the 15 shells for the 128mm does not serve as a problem, if you don't try snap shots or roll on pen on an E-75's frontal armor. I have never had a game where I used all my ammo. In short range combat, never use sniper mode, and this gun will deliver.

Taking this into the town area is always a bad idea. With the Sturer Emil and the Dicker Max, you need to work ridgelines deep inside your own lines. Pushing to the front line with a TD works for things that are heavy armoured and fast firing. This is not a bad machine at all, it just doesn't suit your playstyle.

I did play this tank on the testserver and got some nice games with it, but usually your ammo won't last till the end of the game, if you got enough targets. You really cannot be in the frontline without good cover, just as in your review you get wreck by any tank. I had quite a bit of luck with it, since i had many games in it on the Sacred Valley map, where you can use that gun supression to awesome use. Still a nice review , totally waiting for a review on that Rhm. B. WT, just a beast! :)

Sounds like a big Dicker Max (no armor, brutal gun with great gun depression and bad gun arc) so I'm still excited to try it after the Nashorn since I love the Dicker Max so much. 15 rounds while few sounds ok with me since the stug III holds only slightly more than 30 rounds while only doing 135 average dmg. So less than half the stug's ammo count but more than 3 times the damage per round sounds ok.

Bought this tank once, sold it then decided to push through to the tier 8. Its not bad once you get used to it. Strictly a sniping tank. Have to stay back and make shots count and stay out of towns as much as possible.

I dont know I kinda liked this tank. If you can get to a good spot you can do a lot of damage and spotting damage (e.g. sacred valley south spawn) on the hill beside the bridge (got my ace tanker there with the stock gun). But you need to get the gun depression to work and hide in the background to get a good game in this tank.

personnaly the way i played the Pz.sfl 5/ st. emil was a lot like i played the ISU-152. I sat back behind my allies in bushes, shot, then pulled back into cover while the enemys were trying to find me, i never played too agressive, never made a lot of chancy shots, and i never tried to do something i know my tank wasn't meant to do, like tank for my team.

I've had a few good battles with this thing... including one where I did almost 4900 damage, though since it was a draw I didn't get my Ace Tanker... If I'd gotten one more kill I'd have gotten Fadin's Medal, Ace Tanker, Top Gun, and Sniper... of those I only got Sniper in the battle.

I think that you should really use the Stock gun on the Pz.Slf.V, it can deal with most of the frontal armor you will be facing in average MM if you aim, and it's APCR shells do have decent penetration. the real kicker is, you get 4x as many shells that only have 190 average damage less, and the traverse is better. Personally, with this tank (And all of this tech line), if you're relying on the alpha to take out a target before they can hit you, you're to far forward.

Your review is spot on. This tank is so slow it can be circled by a T28 prot going uphill pushing a T95. The stock grind till you get the 12.8 cm is miserable. The Emil is a big gun mounted on a broken egg shell.

I really loved the gun depression and the alpha on this tank when I was playing it. Note that I was a completely newb player back then and I only played german tank destroyers. I was grinding towards the Borsig beause it looked cool. Now that I have an SU-100, SU-152, Pz4 Waffle, T67 and a JT88 I returned to the St. Emil because I had fond memories of playing it. And man....the tank is absolutely terrible. I can't get it to work for me. I believe that the main reason for this is that I like either fast turreted tanks (this is why the Pz4 Waffle was a big upgrade for me after the Borsig) or slow but heavily armored ones like the JT88. So I think it is all about playstyle. Back in the days I was mainly sitting in a bush and sniping and I had minimal impact on the games I was playing. Nowadays I like scouts, mediums and fast TDs much more (preferrably with a turret) because I can flex around the map and make a difference. The St. Emil is just not helping me out in this regard. And since it is a slow tissue box I just sold it.

I own the thing and I actually enjoy it a lot. With the first gun, the 10,5 cm you do really have to place shots carefully because of the low penetration. But if your team is losing, you in your pz.sfl V and some random other tank or TD can really stop an enemy advance. Still have to unlock the 12,8 cm though... If you really know how to use it, it can be a beast.

dude, if you like it already with 10.5 cm gun, combo 12.8 cm + gun depression is destroyer of the worlds combination, best tier 7 TD (and I like the look of the tank, it looks so sexy and dangerous) Last time I drove this tank I was orange WN7 and now I am nearly green player so I must rebuy it and have a go in it because my record in it is 7 kills in 1 battle and I know it has the potential to go up to 10 kills

I have to say, you've complete hit the nail in the head for the Sturer Emil. The stock grind is horrible,coming from the punchy and fast gun the Nashorn had, and even when you get the top gun, it has just so little ammo that you can't really make it work unless you camp hard and snipe targets from distance. I could have dealt with the horrible gun angles if it had the speed to reposition, but the damned thing is just a coffin on wheels, in my opinion. When I get to the Rhm Borsig, I'm never looking back at this horribly balanced tank.

I dont know. I've used this tank and loved it. I have bought every new TD, except for the Flakbus, up to tier 7 and havent sold it. I got the Nashorn and got the Pz. Sfl V the same day. I grinded about half the amount of exp I need for the WT in just 2-3 days.

To be honest I like the Emil once it gets that 12,8cm gun as well its Extreme gun depression. I hated the grind especially stock engine, but the problem I have is its iSlow speed and its low ammo capacity, it costed me a lot of heartbreaking matches as I tried to carry as well as having battles with 0 to 500 damage done because the team blitzkrieg'd the enemy team. But overall, I like the tank but I'm not keeping it once I get the borsig.

The one thing that wasn't mentioned was the amount of xp need to unlock the upgun to make this thing work. So you have to suffer for a long time if you don't have 60k in free xp, so your working with a 160 pen gun in tier 9 matches. The camo rating doesn't seem to be great, the number of times I was spotted while behind bushes and with 100% camo crew and camo net without seeing who spotted when I've not moved or fired. My advice if you can use free xp to bypass this POS do so save your self the pain.

Its not so bad TD at all. Yes, its paper, extreme slow, but you really want use its gun depresion to hide yourself from return fire. Its third row TD, you can poke out on unusual spots to suprise your enemies and hide again before they can point gun at you. Dont expect more, if you stay last tank alive, you'll never win against faster tanks. You can bounce shot with superstructure sometimes against low caliber guns(you should use gun traverse as much as possible when you poke out), but its not very likelly. That gun depression and gun alone are strongest advantages of this TD. Sitting back in bushes is also option if you have good camo crew, but at moment you get spotted you're dead. You really need solid cover to hide and poke out only when you have reloaded gun, but you should not poke out at same location twice. Also, being on the ridge, you can avoid a bit of artillery fire, get some speed moving backwards after being spotted.

While the Sturer Emil (yeah, that's much easier to say) actually had very little in the way of ammunition, they could buff both the ammo a bit and the armor. After all, they put the historically bullshit 122mm on the KV-1S and the also historically inaccurate 90mm on the Hellcat so they can definitely add SOME armour and ammo to the poor Emil. Maybe just for a change they should buff a german tank every now and then.

I just recently picked up this TD and I find its like RNG sometimes its great othertimes its a curse and its a very map situational kind of TD. I dont have the 128 for it yet but never having played the Dicker Max it was a learning experience I am slightly interested to see how I do preform though. My playstyle is suited for this TD but it is a frustrating little bugger and I dont think Ill keep it around after I research the RHM-BWT. Of course the main problem I have with it is its speed most of the maps I qued were ill suited for it .

I like this way better (with the big gun) than the nashorn. Might keep it. But I'd certainly trade away some accuracy for some armor and/or mobility. Accuracy seems not too useful. The su-100 is just much better than the nashorn for this reason in my opinion, you can snipe fairly OK in it and it has armor that can actually bounce now and then and is also more mobile both making it much more versatile.

i dont think the 1150 non prem mastery badge has anything to do with the players. the tank was new when you played it. so not very much ace tankers by then. I now do struggle with the ace tanker on the Rhm B-Wt because everybody went through to it with free exp. try getting the mastery badge in the older tanks, that is quite hard now

In the console version this gun only has 148 mm penetration but 560 dmg, if u pen, I like to think of it as a rolling dumpster. what makes a tank? An armored vehicle right with a gun well it has no armor it's very slow for a vehicle so and it doesn't have the best gun... With the very limited transverse of the gun it makes snapshotting near impossible

I had to grind it and it was HARD! The stock gun with 165 pen was horrible and the accuracy was killing me. It got a bit easier with the other gun. When I started I had 38% win rate on that tank for the first 100 games or so. I managed to get it up to 55% win rate and 550 xp average before I sold it. Reckon there is only two ways to play it and that is not to get spotted or use your friends as meatsheilds. Not far from the top gon the Borsig. Can´t wait!

I like that td, but i only use the 105 on it... the low ammo amount is game-breaking in my opinion.

personally I enjoy the St emil, its armour is poor but you must play it right. If you are normally used to being face to face with your enemies slugging it out, then you will get slaughtered. In the second game you were at fault, you put yourself (a slow poorly armoured tank) in a position where you had no support and due to your reload time was unable to lay down enough effective fire. Its a tough trick but once you get playing it and playing it well you will be rewarded, you either love it or hate it but its difficult either way.

I like the balanced replays, why not show a fail if the tank has serious drawbacks to highlight? I'm grinding this line, 5k away from unlocking this one at Tier 7. Looks challenging but will have to tough it out if I want a Borsig!

because of the poor gun arc and limited ammo, i mounted a GLD instead of a rammer, and seemed to start to do much better. if you are having trouble with this tank give it a try - great review!

59-16 was using 57mm it was way too short for the auto-loader.

I have never played this tank. But I think it could be improved with more amo and a better gun arc. These are just my thought.

Havnet plagede it yet i am still at tier 5 but i totalt agree with you. Its like a sparring partner rater than a true fighter. I am not looking forward to this one. Kind of like the t25 American tier 7. Somthing you have to get through fast and forget it exists.

It took me 75 matches to elite the Jagdpanther (though note I already had the long 88 unlocked from having unlocked the Ferdi from the Tiger P, which of course also means I already had the Ferdi unlocked). With this thing, I've played 150 matches and still have 4k experience to go... and that's after getting sick of the stock grind and spending 20 or 30K free XP (don't remember exactly) on getting the top gun... If you absolutely MUST play the Waffentragers, free XP this thing if at all possible. If you're not that interested in the Waffentragers, avoid like the plague. Easily one of the worst tanks I've ever driven...
