Just got it two days ago, and i have to say that the turret armour is crap... Compared to the Centurion 7/1 with the mantlet the 4202 turret feels like a leopard turret. Whats the hardest for me, is that I have to change the playstyle I am used to from the Centurions... I hope that the Action X will have better turret armour...

16:35 they did nerf the medium tank penetration values as well, but in the way of reducing normalization for APCR shells, so its much harder to penetrate sloped armor for them, even more than the heavy tank guns with overall reduced penetration. (The 121 got its pen nerfed too because it uses AP rounds)

Hey, QB, T10 mediums are shooting APCR as standart. Thats why the shell velocity is so high. The normalization of those was nerfed to only 2 deg, so their real world pen is now somewhat weaker than T10 heavies.

The reason mediums have more penetration than heavies is because APCR normalization was nerfed to 5 to 2 degree. Effectively medium gun pen is very much in line with the heavies.

Researched this tank about 6 months ago, and never bought it. I have the 62A, 140, E50M and the STB-1, with the ROF upgrade in 9.2, I think I will be finally buying this one.

When WG took a detailed look at the FV4202 they made some unexpected discoveries. IRL, the frontal plate was only 50mm thick, had a weaker engine, and was only armed with an 85mm gun. I believe this is why there has been speculation of this tank being replaced. Personally, I hate mine and can't wait.

if you choose the right time to load a HE shell , its to finish off arties or LTs

You need the penetration in your TDs. Use HE only on very low HP targets or on tanks with low armor

The shot you took on the side of the WZ 111 1-4 most likely didn't go in because, a little known fact: it has the same type of angled and spaced armor like the IS-7 has on its side.

You missed out on the Leopard 1's gun. It's a modified version of the Brit's L7A1. Or at least that's what it appears to be.

I'm 50k away from this tank now (+ thankngod for the sept missoon!!!) I find the 7/1 guns difficult... long load on the 105 makes changing between ammo harder. Will be getting my loader trained in the perk for that now. The british tanks really suit the way i play... love em!

its basically the same thing,L7A1 on the FV to the L7A3 on the leopard, in real life its basically the same thing with the breech block on it cut down to fit inside the leopard's turret better. In game it's got better stats, and overall a better gun on the leopard than the FV.

HESH rounds are broken in the Centurion 7/1 and sometimes in the FV HESH does 75 in damage!

Continuing on my last comment, the FV4202 needs it historical armoured turret (as some people on the forums went and confirmed on the actual tank, more than WG ever did, its commander's hatch made to historical sizes (half the size), the mantlet restored (as it should be) and gun upgraded to be similar to the Leo 1's, given the Fv4202 had superior sights and working areas to the Leopard 1 anyway (which was WG's reason for why its gun was better...which is wrong anyway)

I fire mostly AP in my 183. I found that I actually have better results with it rather than HESH. It sure is satisfying to get a full pen with a HESH round though :)

yo quicky spot on review m8, intuition is handy on this tank, quick switching ammo and trashing batchats is fun. Like most of the Brit tanks they excel on open maps, if you could only play malanovka the fv4202 would be a OP god

"lacks a gun mantlet" It actually DOES have a gun mantlet. It's just internally designed. Unfortunately, because WG did no research on this tank at all when they made it for the game (It has so many inaccuracies) they never knew that and thus in game it doesn't count for any extra armour when in fact there's a rather thick mantlet behind that frontal slope. The more you know.

I think that if you want a brawler medium, you'll be disabused of the notion of a British medium around the time you hit the Centurion 1. Seems to play a similar style, but with no hull armour to speak of, and a low alpha high rof gun. I assume that the Centurion 7/1 is more of the same (unless you mount the L7A1) and exchange rof for alpha.

When I first bought mine it was right after everyone got 1000 gold and so I turned it into 10k free xp and bought the derp on it right off the bat. It still kinda sucked but it was better than the stock gun.

i really wonder what QB will think about the STB-1 and when a review will show up.. 2-3 things do really hurt the FV.. (beside of dubious HESH behaviour ingame) 1. mediocre and worse "acc on the move" than its predecessor and many other meds 2. screwed turretarmor (buggy?) 3. topspeed is hilarious in comparios to wT ratio, and hurts it most.. (did they forget to build in the 4th gear or smth)? it simply does not allow to get to important spots in the beginning on many maps its on the lower end of all T10 mediums to me.. but still playable ofc.. just sad that it doesn't get a buff that it would deserve (stunning acc on the move, or topspeed at least 48km/h)

Quickybaby, I'm really annoyed that when comparing the Tier X medium tanks guns you forget about the Leopard 1 all the time, while it has amazing RoF (6,95), accuracy (0,3) and aim time (1,9s), while still having the gun depression of -9°. I know that you don't have the Leo 1 yet, but you shouldn't forget about it, as it is a really dangerous opponent in good hands. Cheers from QSF-X, keep up the good work ;)

Frankly I think the HESH ammo on this tank should be buffed in terms of alpha dmg to around 600 dmg. Compare the only two premium HESH shells in the game, the 183 which does 52% more dmg than regular shell, while here it does only 23% more. And it costs more. The same goes for penetration. The use of this round is soo situational,(I´ve had a lot of tracks hits of batchats that did very little damage),that it should also be rewarding and when you hit right, you should be able to wreck the target.

Isn't the point of HESH shells to not penetrate the armour of the hostile tank but to explode on contact and send spall (shrapnel) flying around the inside of the tank to kill everyone and damage vital equipment.

more like causing a huge dent in the armor which causes spalling which are thin flakes of metal that sheer off the inside of the turret and fly around on the inside of the tank, absolutely shredding everyone. The idea of it being like an Electro Magnetic Pulse is absurd. The warhead is like a fluid when it hits armor it "splashes" to the armore (Squash Head) then it explodes causing spalling which is stated above

Kevin Jack-Nunez Comet is a great tank, see his review he just made. He says anyone who says it is a "Bad" tank is an Inexperienced player due to the fact that the Comet may have that 77MM but It can pack a punch in 1 min. What it lacks in pen it makes up for in the excellent rate of fire.

Do you know how much work goes into capturing, editing, converting, and uploading a replay? FRAPS, for example, can produce a 4gb+ files. He has to capture, add commentary, then convert. Do you have any idea how long it takes to render a vid that large? And then upload it to KZbin? Try it yourself, you might start to understand how much work it is. That he manages at least one a week is astounding, especially with the amount of time he spends streaming and, you know, having a life.

Why do people like the Centurion 7/1 better than this one? I don' have either, the farthest I had gotten was the Covenanter in the british light/medium line by the time I had stopped playing WoT(had gotten into WTGF CBT, and I hadn't been playing WoT long). So, I'm just curious, as I see a lot of people saying the Centurion 7/1 is better, yet that's tier IX and they is tier X.

I really don't see why anyone can like this tank. It doesn't do anything better than other tier 10's, can't do hull down on account of terrible turret armour and a huge commander's tumour, gets outurn by others...so it can't be a flanker, sniper or a "tank" tank. It's just a midground thing with a couple of oddities, but it's competitively worse than anything else. T-62A, Obj 140 etc, they just wreck the FV4202 easily, especially with their damage buffs in the coming patch.

Ill be honest i just got this tank and i don't like it. The gun is good and i can randomly bounce shots but even if this thing goes hull down like you can in the centurion 7/1 it will get shots put right through the turret. Also that commanders tower is a massive weak spot. This thing would be amazing if it had a gun matlet. Though eventually the tank will be replaced with the Action X Centurion.
