Also I have to say that just one other teammate who knows what they're doing can make literally all the difference in Ranked. Last night I was in the Jutland and got a teammate in a Yugumo who used his torpedoes to devastating effect, consistently pinged where his RPF was pointing, and otherwise communicated in chat. Between the two of us we dragged our entire team kicking and screaming to victory.

In all honesty Casper didn't have his smoke off cooldown yet so i kinda feel it wasn't a massive misplay

It was still a misplay, but for positioning as opposed to consumable use. He knew there was a battleship behind him since he just hit it with torpedoes, he knew his smoke was off cooldown, and he knew going left would let him maybe get is mostly useless torpedoes off BUT would leave him wide open with no smoke. The better play would have been to either not engage and go around the right side of the island to flank the destroyer as soon as he was momentarily spotted slotting behind the island pointed towards the center of the cap. That is the moment where he made a huge blunder that probably should have seen him sunk. He had massively reduced speed to tuck in behind the island but got spotted momentarily then continued with the plan instead of changing the plan to go around the back. Instead he pushed to within his non-firing surface detection range with no smoke. A golden rule in this game is whenever you are able to set up a crossfire safely, do so. He had the opportunity to get around back but instead pushed, in a destroyer with smoke on cooldown, into the teeth of the enemy.

As a mainly DD player there are areas of the map that I call Torpedo Lanes. Quite like shipping lanes, they are places where it is extremely likely to find a ship at some point. If you fire down there while your torps are available and you don't have any conceivable target for the duration of the reload, go ahead and fire them. I've got so many kills from players that just love to drive with purpose through those lanes. That Iowa player was one of them. Straight line travel from one gap to the next. He probably wonders why his BBs are torpedo magnets.

@@ainumahtar I played co-op to get a the 'old school' or whatever missions they were called done with my low tier (3 or 4, can't remember) DDs as fast as possible. There was a player who I saw continuously in those battles. They had 20,000+ games in WoWs on their stat page, most on 3 particular DDs, all T3-T4, and all in Co-op. They never played any other ships or above that tier. So bizarre and boring I can't imagine it.

@@MysterySemicolon Yeah I'm not saying only bad people play Coop right, I mean a bunch of bad people play nothing but coop (and think they are great at the game because they shit on the enemies there xD) I can't imagine playing that many myself either, I had some fun doing the scenarios the first two or three times, and some drunken derp tactics with clan buddies, but other than that I truly don't see the fun in it.

I just picked up the Black this weekend and already I'm absolutely AMAZED how often people eat the slow ass torps that I send out. I even got a devastating strike on a Lion with them. I think what helps is that they reload quickly enough that you tend to just throw them down any long avenue you can as often as you can, which ultimately results in more hits.

An interesting battle if mainly because both sides really blundered to their moments of glory rather than arranging them by design. Also a good example of the value of switching your ammo as a DD more. Casper had a lot of ships at very close range and kept shooting HE at them in ways where shells either shattered or did minimum damage on damage-saturated sections, when he had beautiful unscratched bows and sterns to pump AP into that would have doubled or trebled his damage from gun fire, saving much grief.

I thought the Roon was being kind of a muppet at first by sailing around the back of the island east of C and not turning up until the rest of the team was dead, but I think they redeemed themselves when they bitchslapped the Bismarck for 2/3 of its health in one torpedo salvo 🤣

The Roon spent most of his time behind the island in D8 which is an amazing spot for Cruisers and destroyers to hide behind and fire over undetected. From that information alone I knew Roon is a good player. Why he chose to sail around the island? Dunno. Maybe to get broadsies on the yoloing JB?

The smoke was not off cooldown yet...so not using it was not the misplay. The hesitation on getting into the cap or deciding on how to approach the cap with other ships closing in was the misplay. He could very easily have lost his ship if the JB turned his guns, used his main battery reload booster and between shots loaded HE. JB's make for awesome DD killers in pushing scenarios

Black's torps reload quickly and have good range. They are so slow that the tactical situation can dramatically during their run. Sometimes the results are hilarious.

Quantity have a quality of its own but not if your quantity doesn’t want to fight then you just have a bunch sandbags, useful but not in the way they were intended. Although it does always warm my heart to see players working together to achieve a common goal. Stay safe you salty sea dogs.

I remember back before the carrior rework I played all of my japanese torp dds with the reload booster since you were so stealthy, CVs basically non existent and even not a lot of radar around you could comfortably stay unspotted for an entire game and just keep on yeeting too many torps everywhere. Today I kind of don't want to risk it with all the planes up.

Casper’s smoke was on cool-down when he went against the Jean Bart B. That’s why he didn’t use it right away. He used it the second it came off CD. His mistake was going into that battle without having smoke ready, and without having an effective exit strategy.

You'd be surprised how hard ranked is becoming. I feel sometimes its beimg treated like a second random battle for some people and they just like dealing with less people but thing is they dont really try. The other day i did 250k dmg to the enemy team and it literally came down to the wire with just me and a kansas left alive all while having a kron who died to a albemarle torp rush who he spotted but chose not to evwn acknowledge while shooting an island multiple times telling me over and over again how thw only reason why i did that much dmg and we won is that i got lucky not the fact i put myself in a position to crossfire (i was in georgia) and shot who needed to be shot starting with dds and working up to bbs

How two ships can hold of the team? I call it the World of Tanks effect. (I don’t actually play world of tanks, so someone can correct me). The team all gets afraid of getting their ships damaged that they all hide behind islands and start trying to duck in and out, attempting to snipe the enemy. Thereby ensuring the enemy is only fighting one ship at a time. Whereas the enemy just sits in open water and unloads at whatever slow moving ship pokes its nose out. Some people don’t realise that focus firing is how you win battles.

When I started to watch that video I had 432k coal , I bought black , I bought upgrated used my 21p Gering commander , went to battle ... super ship battle 6 super ships , 5 T10 and 1 T9 for each side , I was T9 I caped I torpoedo , but they had 5 radars , so I was limited to torpedo boad , yes 13.7 km is nice but 45 knots speed (with upgrate) is pathetic ! , my Benham have 72 knots , so I guess this ship will be good for ranked ... I am in gold ligue no T9 there ... some say "when you go Black , you wont come back" ... I say , I went black , I want my coal back ;)

He couldn't be any faster on his smoke, there's this little something called a cooldown that needed to finish, and it was the DD that took down the Soyuz, Also Roon, Like Hipper before it, Hindi after it, and the USN T8+ CA line, can bow tank one of the surviving battleships in this match, unlike every other cruiser line in game,

Really bought the whole dumb battleship drivers hurr durr drive in straight line schtick I guess and that caused everything to miss. Really though he was just gonna ignore a destroyer that close huh
