I remember a few years ago when Wargaming introduced the Worcester. Jingles made a video of the ship against 3 carrier. They couldn't even launch their planes. The Worcester shot them down that fast. Good ol' days

@@kylelantan9220 Sure does. How about a ship class that can ignore enemy defences, even if stacked, and take out any target with a well placed strike or two. Doesn't need to care about submarines due to their stupidly powerful and completely automatic repair party. Really balanced, right? Sure, Carriers are insanely powerful IRL, but this a game and if you want ppl to play it you need to make it fun for everyone, not just one class of ships.

That was a ridiculous ending. That final frame, with the distant empty healthbar of the enemy Mecklenberg and aircraft overhead, the incoming shells and bombs, the relatively low health on a light cruiser about to take all that firepower, was something else.

I'm fairly certain that the Mecklenburg at 05:30 in the video was just trying to pass between Akitho and the island in order to enter the cap circle. There was a large gap there just seconds before, but Akitho kept backing up and just barely managed to cut into the path of the Mecklenburg in time to force the Mecklenburg to push him out of the way. If Akitho had waited just 10 more seconds before he started reversing, then they could've passed each other without issue. PS: Not assigning blame to either of them here. Mecklenburg was trying to take the shortcut into the cap circle and probably hoping that Akitho wouldn't move backwards. Akitho was moving backwards and didn't realise the Mecklenburg was moving up.

I remember in Alpha, the draw rate was over 60%. But that was when the battle timer was only 15 minutes, and the points bar wasn't a thing.

@@markos8400 Mostly when they introduced the newer game modes. In the beginning we only had the one with the two bases that give 1k points when capped. Out of my 1070 battles, I have 19 draws according to the WoWs stats. But I lost interest quite a long while ago. I'm a bit disappointed that wows-numbers counts my win rate in CVs as 0%. I count it as 100%.

It got changed shortly after coming out of beta, I have 41 draws on my account because I was playing back then. A few are more recent, but not many.

AA fire can still work just as it used to. AL Montpelier wipes squadrons super quick running DF AA. I feel like some people just haven’t gone through the process of figuring out which ships still work for this.

Draws used to be super common way back when, when it was either "cap the base, or kill them all". Then they added points and made them significantly less common.

Yea, like 1 in 20 matches would be a draw because when they first added points it didn't matter which team had more points when time ran out. They were just there so when you score 1000 by killing all the ships or capping would you win.

Ah yes the days when the Mino's AA out ranged it's air detection, so by the time you knew you were in danger a quarter of your planes were already gone. The Mino used to be able to put out more AA than the DM with Def AA and more AA range. Def AA needs to be able to panic attack aircraft again, the aiming reticle not shrinking wold make a huge change.

I remember playing carriers before the "rework" I used to avoid AA cruisers like plague - you know the likes of Atlanta class prems, Cleveland and Edinburgh lines... Now, the austin and minotaur together killed enough planes to completely deplane old carrier, and still it didnt make much difference

Once in my AA-spec Cleveland I had an enemy carrier's entire strike group fall to my defensive fire. Only one single torpedo bomber got close enough to drop before dying, and he missed. The enemy carrier stayed far away from me the rest of the battle.

But from a certain point of view, the carrier couldn't kill the Austin and Minotaur, and spent the whole game focusing on them, so they did effectively take him out of the game. Carrier wasn't bothering anyone else.

The breaking point where CA's start overmatching Minotaurs angled armor is with the French CA, Henri with its 230mm guns. You can see the futility from the Des Moines at several points in the battle - 6:28 is a prime example."

While I''ll agree that carriers are a bit over-tuned, I feel like Jingles has been harping on the effectiveness of AA a bit too hard. Imagine if you were in Vermont and the enemy ship had a chance to just delete some of or all of your shells mid-flight with the press of a button or two. That's basically what wiping a squadron is, and it DOES happen against carriers. Not often, but it does. Carriers SHOULD be able to get at least one strike off. The Russian carriers do completely ruin the balance philosophy though. Also keep in mind Malta, as a UK CV, has particularly tanky planes as one of its gimiks.

Draws used to be very common in the past, very long ago, having a points lead was not enough to win, you really had to reach 1000, bring the opposing team to 0 or kill all to win. But that was in 2015/2016, very long ago.

And to think it's a Asia server game. The server where players choose T10 to get away from the CV's. The only tier that gets protection from 2x CV games. The server where there are often more CV's in the MM queue than even BB's. Like tonight, first game, 42 cv's in the queue and only 20 BB's and 12 CA's. (well, for the first 30 seconds, then the numbers sort of normalised at 42 cv's and 38 BB's). Asia server.

Question: If you have a friendly carrier attacking a ship, and you send your DC planes towards the attacked ship, Does that attacked ship's AA be less focused on the friendly carrier's planes? Would that help the friendly carrier having less planes shot down?

Best place to ask this would be the forums, not youtube comments... there is a LOT of dubious info about CVs, and WG changes it all the time. My gut says "yes" but I am now second guessing because that gut is based on what is "realistic" design, and there have been so many buffs, nerfs, and tweaks to AA that "realistic" is a bad metric to use. As a CV player, the way AA damage is focussed is utterly bizzare and that is the most confident thing I can say about it.

AA damage to planes comes in two parts. 1: immediate effect damage from making contact with a flak cloud (where you take one big chunk of damage to your squadron). 2: damage over time (aka damage per second) depending on which AA zone (based on distance from ship) around the ship you are in (short range, middle range, long range - not all ship AA applies damage in all 3 zones; look in ship's AA description for details). That means having more than 1 squadron of planes around a ship does not divide AA damage between the squadrons. This is why, for example, a CV dropping fighters during an attack run would not shift some of the incoming AA damage from the attacking squadron to those fighters.

The Minotaur class, or Design Z, is the one class of ships if they built them with their intended guns, once they open fire it would expend all their ammo in 20 seconds. Having ship around like that is not practicable.

16:51 About AA making "no difference at all". Yeah, AA didn't stop CV from doing his torp drop, but it clearly stopped him from dropping a second time. And it reduced the number of fighters for further attacks. Would you be okay with an automated option that stopped a BB salvo from making any damage? Like "Haha, my Goalkeeper secondary just scrapped all your shells midair, you otherwise OP battleship! I didn't even have to push a button or aim to do that." CV hate is just ridiculous. Deal with it, stop crying.

I think I have about 35 draws on my account. Domination games used to count as a draw unless one team was sunk or got to 1000 points. I can’t remember how long it was before they changed it, but the fact I have so few and started playing as soon as the game went live tells you enough.

earlier the planes at least had bigger aiming cicle while baing under heavy AA fire, now they just sail through it like it's nothing, and the planes on a carriers were limited, not 3D printed. Priority sector should last longer, but who am I kidding WG never listens

I had a ridiculous draw back when I still played this game, pretty sure it's still available on another channel. Long story short, Epicenter, 6 kills, couldn't quite get the 7th before I died, points ticked up to the draw because the lone enemy ship surviving couldn't get to our cruiser that had been AFK the entire game.
