It's time to take a look at the first French destroyer that deserves their reputation for being rather quick - Le Fantasque, lead ship of her class.

You can also use the speed to run circles around BBs, or do hit&runs. They tend to slow down significantly in a turn, so just straightening out the rudder can boost you up by 10kn or so, which can be enough to dodge non-predictive torp drops.

The Fantasque is definitely my goal for the French destroyer line, which is also on par with getting all of my lines up at least to tier 8! I will consider the mogador which is a minor improvement over the fantasque, but tier 9 just becomes much less fun to play at and the grind to get to tiers 9 and 10 is just so long and is to time consuming for a busy guy like me.

I haven't tried the T7, but T8 is definitely a sweet spot in many regards.

I like the Le Terrible….and her being a Le Fantasque class dd she is a light cruiser…She has a longer reload than the Fantasque so that’s why I’m excited for the branch. The Terrible has a torp range comparable to Pan Asian DDs. Def difference play styles between the 2

Torps on Le Fantasque are definitely situational, a lot more like Soviet DDs

I can't really complain, I would certainly fail miserably as well. The CV got me in the end, a lot of this can be players not yet used to ships being this fast.

Sometimes this game is just unplayable with the teammates you get. Im still waitingnfor a 1vs1 mode. Would be very cool to once fight without teammates. Also the problem with early reviews it that the playstale will change a lot if the ships come in the techtree. If people know how to aim for them its ging to be a lot harder

Hey Terry. Nice video. In your opinion, which one is better? Le Terrible or Le Fantasque? I got the former during the January birthday event.

They're pretty similar, Le Terrible being a Le Fantasque-class DD herself. I had a quick comparison a few weeks back, you might still find it in the community section, but I think Le Fantasque was slightly better.

I think the number of turbo drives at only 2 is far too few. It should at least have the same number of turbo drives as the one installed on the colbert, be it 5 turbo drive III or 4 turbo drive IV. This line has no smoke gas, very long hull, no anti air, and bad stealth rating; the Kleber would have worse stealth rating than even the colbert, this line needs to have extra tools to survive any battles other than just merely having to rely on their base speed alone.

Agreed, they might have to be adjusted a bit. Once people get used to the speed and adjust their aim, the "happy times" might be over

Terry, what you described isn't so much a rapid reload as it is the reload mod you can purchase for slot 1. Faster reload with lower turret survivability.

Le fantasque looks like good fun with 54 knots and RR3 to meme people around I cant wait to see kleber potentially surpass 60 knots with a speed build and engine boost 4 The funniest thing with the FR DDs is that they reverse faster than the colorado can go forward But honestly the french DDs currently need buffs, mainly to their shell speed, the slow shells make DD hunting and long range gunboating anything that isnt a BB exceedingly difficult As they are now the russians are the better choice

These aren't DD hunters imo, their power is in positioning. Being able to be where they need to be, aren't expected, or relocate quickly can be a tactical advantage. In pure terms of damage output, it's pretty average, and I'd agree that the Soviet gunboats are the better HE spammers.

I don't have the Fanta myself but I do have Le Terrible and I did exactly what you have done in your build...... Whenever I have other destroyers or cruisers chasing me and I active the engine boost I feel like I'm in the millenium Falcon entering the light speed to escapes the hordes of Tie Fighters :P Also I notice you considering getting the Black Gascogne

I've got Terrible myself, and yes, it's a meme boat ... Personally I'm not hugely interested in black ships, they often don't offer enough difference from their free equivalents. Some notable exceptions, like black Bayern.

The speeds really gives you the ability to snatch a cap and reposition very quickly definitely a meme ship. Also I have a challenge for your wine degustation series : you are only allowed to use the forward and backwards controls no starboard or port changes in battle however you can use anything to change your direction. This challenge should show how important it is to use the control and to deal with damaged ruder

What tech line do you recommend for my second one?

I generally can't easily recommend specific lines. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, it's really more about what style you as a player prefer. For example, the alternate USN BB line would bore me to tears with the long reload, because I'm on the reckless side of the spectrum, and don't generally like back row ships, but others might like them just fine. Best I can recommend is to try some lines til mid tier, and see if you like them.

The speed makes new captains complacent. I've landed whole salvos of Cleveland's floating AP shells on these straight linus ships at over 8 kms. Once the start to use the rudder though, they are impossible to aim at. Edit: 33:29 Look at the mvp. If there's one thing that is always true in this game, it's that you can never win against a Roma.

Yes, you tend to feel invulnerable, and if a rapid-firing cruiser adjusts their aim, things look quite different.

27:53 ah yes, the IJN derpy destroyer player. Normally stupid IJN DD players will flank all the way, but this guy is extraordinary Ignores objectives, not capping at first, then not going for clumsy battleships, but trying to rush a cruiser. Huge facepalm (or are these paid actors?)
